Review
Dan Harrington, 1995 World Champion and the only player who made the final table in the main events of 2003 and 2004, has joined forces with writer and backgammon player Bill Robertie.
Together, these two pros have put together the finest book on No-Limit tournament Texas Hold'em that the market has ever seen. Their collaboration has produced a two volume series, with this book as the first. It fills a large void on the market and when you read the book you will understand why: It is simply too complex and hard to write a complete book on No-Limit Hold'em, but this book comes very close to achieving this goal.
It is the only book on the market that comprehensively examines betting patterns and the process of analyzing how much you should bet in different situations. Harrington really puts you in the mind of an expert poker player and guides the reader through the often very complex poker decisions.
The book consists of seven main parts: (1) The Game of No-Limit Hold'em, (2) Playing Styles and Starting Requirements, (3) Reading the Table, (4) Pot Odds and Hand Analysis, (5) Betting Before the Flop, (6) Betting After the Flop, and (7) Betting on Fourth and Fifth Street. Every section ends with 'The Problems,' where you as a reader go through a series of scenarios that illustrate the concepts discussed in that chapter. This book is a must read for anyone serious about improving their No-Limit Hold'em tournament game. If you are a complete beginner this book may not be the best for you, though it will probably still be a good read.
In total, it reads 381 pages.
