Sahamies Strikes for $155k

Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies reigned supreme on Full Tilt Poker last night although many of the biggest players were missing.

With Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen and Jens “Ingenious89” Kyllonen absent, Sahamies moved down to the $100/$200 PLO games.

It proved to be a wise move as Ziigmund recorded 852 hands and tore his opponents up. Sahamies played a few hands against 1stUgetDmoney and LokoIsBack but his primary rival was Ben “Sauce1234” Sulsky.

In the 500+ hands they played against each other, Sahamies smashed Sulsky for over $140,000. Including his other comparatively minor victories last night, Sahamies finished up a total of $155,000.

Meanwhile Sulsky was able to find success against online player KOMIJENDO last night in several $50/$100 No-Limit Hold’em games and managed to reduce his deficit to just $35k on the night. KOMIJENDO ended up taking $127k in damages.

It’s been a long time since Ziigmund was in the black for a year and even after last night he’d have to win $650k to get even in 2011.

Outside of Ziigmund there were few big winners on Full Tilt last night. Zivziv took second place with a modest $25,000 and LokoIsBack hit $11k in profit. Interestingly Canadian XWINK was active last night and also pulled in $11k.

Known for spinning his online poker roll up to an absurd amount from nearly nothing, XWINK is currently holding steady this year with $283k in profit.

There’s a good chance the high stakes online games will continue to be slow over the next couple of weeks as many of the biggest players in the world are headed to Spain for the EPT Grand Final and €25,000 High Roller event.

For many Americans it will be the first chance they’ve had to play poker since Full Tilt and PokerStars departed the U.S. market last month.
