Italians Crushed SPT Malta 2026 Over the Weekend

The SiGMA Poker Tour in Malta (SPT Malta) attracted countless Italians during its week-long run, but for two of them the last weekend of May proved particularly favorable.

Piero Formichella Turned Out to Be the Luckiest Bounty Hunter

On May 30th, 2026, Piero Formichella won €200 SiGMA Mystery Bounty with 138 entries. The Italian drew five mystery bounty envelopes — but only four of them brought him cash:

  • One of €250
  • Two of €500 each
  • The top bounty of €5,000

The last knockout gave Piero an entry to SiGMA Poker Tour Malta 2027.

Fun fact: Right after this victory, Formichella went to the Battle of Malta and qualified there for Day 2.

Martina Valdieri Cemented the Success of Women at SPT Malta

The men’s side of the SPT Malta 2026 field had barely recovered from Martha Leventi crushing invite-only Evenbet Gaming Malta Freeroll, when on May 31st another female poker player, Martina Valdieri became the victress of €150 SiGMA Sunday Special with 91 entries.

In her post victory interview, Valdieri said that when the final table reached the 4-max stage, the remaining players quickly decided to make a deal and play for the trophy. Sharing her impressions, she described the tournament as “very, very small but enjoyable”.

The same can be said about the rest of the series. It may not attract huge numbers but it surely does immerse players into close-knit and cozy tournament poker, just like the movies.
