What is Ocean PKO?
This is a new format of bounty MTTs based on Progressive Knockout but with a few key differences:
- Randomized bounties
- System of Tiers aka Characters aka Levels
- Multiplier to increase rewards
- Bounty Value is derived from Character Value and Multiplier
- Special bounty calculation for the tournament winner
If you enjoy playing anything with bounties or feel over competitive today and want to have more dynamic sessions, this format may become your favorite for a long time.
Ocean PKO Mechanics
Every player starts Ocean KO from Tier 1 — Egg. You move up through the tiers as the bounty on your head accumulates — though players have the chance to skip a tier if they are lucky enough to hit a large multiplier and “leapfrog” straight to a higher level.

When you knock out an opponent, it triggers the Bounty Wheel to decide your reward.
The Random Bounty size depends on the opponent’s current bounty and their tier, which determines the multiplier.
Different multipliers with varying probabilities are available for each tier when the Bounty Wheel is activated.
Once the bounty amount is determined, you immediately receive 50% of it into your GGPoker account, while the remainder is added to your Character Value, bringing you closer to the next tier.
However, your tier does not affect the size of the rewards you receive — only how much another person can earn for knocking you out.
The tournament winner does not simply receive the full amount of their Character Value. Instead, the last Bounty Wheel is activated for them, taking their Character Value and multiplying it by a multiplier randomly selected from a corresponding range. As a result, the final prize may be slightly lower than the accumulated bounty or significantly higher.
Ocean PKO Tiers / Levels / Characters
In total, there are 14 tournament tiers available, each with a different value.
| Level | Tier / Character | Character Value |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Egg | 0.5x buy-in |
| 2 | Fry | 0.6x buy-in |
| 3 | Fish | 0.7x buy-in |
| 4 | Shrimp | 1x buy-in |
| 5 | Crab | 1.5x buy-in |
| 6 | Turtle | 2.5x buy-in |
| 7 | Octopus | 5x buy-in |
| 8 | Dolphin | 10x buy-in |
| 9 | Whale | 20x buy-in |
| 10 | Shark | 50x buy-in |
| 11 | Legendary Octopus | $10,000 or more |
| 12 | Legendary Dolphin | $50,000 or more |
| 13 | Legendary Whale | $250,000 or more |
| 14 | Legendary Shark | $1,000,000 or more |
Character Value determines the bounty amount a player must reach to attain the specified tier. The number of knockouts, stack size, and other characteristics do not affect climbing the tiers.
Tiers Multipliers and Probabilities
Each tier has a range of multipliers that are randomly determined when the Bounty Wheel starts; these affect the final bounty payout awarded when the player is eliminated:
