Russell Thomas: 2012 WSOP October Nine
Russell Thomas is somewhat of a dark horse heading into the 2012 WSOP Main Event final table but should not be underestimated.
Thomas was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, but currently lives in Hartford, Connecticut, and works as an actuary.
A graduate of Temple University, Thomas has cashed three times at the WSOP previously and made a final table in a $1,500 6-Max Event where he finished fifth for $84,256. Noted online pro Carter Phillips went on to win that tournament.
Thomas will beat all his previous cashes combined with his appearance in the 2012 October Nine.
Hardly a passive player, Thomas was chip-leader heading into the final 20 and knocked out a number of notable players.
Although Thomas is a part-time poker player, he’s in a prime position to take down the most prestigious prize in poker and $8.5 million.

Hey man great job on your forth place finish
Good luck Russell, bring home the title.
Nice to see a New England player make the final table at the Main Event, where I am from Massachusetts it is nice to root for the local. Some day I hope to be where he is in the poker world.
