Michael Esposito: 2012 WSOP October Nine
Michael Esposito has definitely been around the poker block, plying his trade in tournaments on the East Coast with cashes stretching back to 2002.
Like a true old school grinder, Esposito’s first cashes were in 7 Card Stud events at Foxwoods, Trump Taj Mahal and the Borgata.
He’d switch over primarily to NLHE and to good effect, with a 9th place finish worth $47,310 in a WSOPC circuit event at Harrahs Atlantic City in 2005 his biggest previous score.
Esposito had lifetime tournament winnings of just over $170,000 heading into the 2012 WSOP Main Event.
Esposito got off to a relatively slow start in this year’s Main Event, moving onto Day 3 with just 68,000 chips. He’d start to pick up momentum on Day 4 and finished the day among the top 75 stacks.
He won a huge race on Day 7 versus Daniel Strelitz that helped vault him to the final table. Esposito was all-in and at risk with pocket tens versus Strelitz’ A♣ K♦ but doubled up to win a huge 12 million chip pot.

Michael Esposito will enter the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event sixth in chips with 16,260,000.
