Jesse Sylvia: 2012 WSOP October Nine
Jesse Sylvia had cashed just one time at the WSOP before making the 2012 Main Event Final table.
Back in 2011 Sylvia min-cashed in a WSOP $1,500 6-Max No-Limit Hold’em event for $2,954.
He will certainly eclipse that number with his efforts in the 2012 WSOP Main Event considering he’s already locked up $754,798 for making the October Nine.
Originally from Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, Sylvia is a full-time live cash game player and a member of 888poker. Sylvia says he plays between 40-60 hours of poker every week.
Sylvia started playing poker in his last year of high school just with friends in home games. During his first year of college Sylvia made his first deposit online and, despite struggling at first, loved the game.
After losing a series of $50 deposits, Sylvia finally decided to get better and read everything he could about the game.
He improved and suddenly he wasn't depositing quite as much. In fact he was withdrawing and using the money he earned from online poker to go on vacations.
Eventually Sylvia’s poker journey took him to Las Vegas in search of live cash games. He fit right in and currently resides in the city.
Notable quote:
“I want to make the Final Table, go home and bring everyone I know back here in a bunch of buses to get into it.”
