Jepsen jumps to Ladbrokes Poker

A little Danish delight is added to Ladbrokes Poker with the signing of Peter Jepsen.

Ladbrokes Poker was on the hunt for a new Danish poker pro to sponsor, and the lure of representing the site was too much for Peter Jepsen to resist. Ladbrokes Poker announced today the poker pro has agreed to a sponsorship deal with the site.

It wasn't much more than a year ago that Peter Jepsen signed on as a sponsored Full Tilt Poker player. He'd been playing a lot of high-stakes games at the poker site, and his profile was raised after winning the 2007 European Poker Tour event in Warsaw.

However, Jepsen was ready to take the next step to develop an even bigger profile on the poker circuit.

"I have been with Full Tilt for a year, and it has been nothing but great, but of course this deal will profile me more than being a part of Full Tilt's big armada," Jepsen said. "And I am delighted to be back with the site where my online career practically started and that has given me a lot of my initial bank roll."

Instead of one of a pack of sponsored players, Jepsen will be one of a kind at Ladbrokes Poker. He will replace Morten "Pokergirl" Erlandsen as the player representing Ladbrokes Poker in both online and live tournament.

"And it's a natural way to go for Ladbrokes," said Richard Funch, Ladbrokes Poker country manager for Denmark. "A new time is here within poker, and Peter is the man of the future."

Jepsen's contract will run until Jan. 1, 2009 - it is initially just a one-year deal, with an option for continuation. So next year poker fans can expect to see Jepsen sporting a Ladbrokes Poker shirt when he hits the major tournament circuits.

"I hope to be able to score some big live wins next year, but also to continue to be successful online," Jepsen said. "And I look forward to meeting my old friends and competitors, as well as new ones, on!"

One way he plans to ramp up his action at Ladbrokes Poker is to engage in some grudge matches at Ladbrokes Poker.

"I will challenge a lot of people in the future to come, and I hope they will accept my invites," Jepsen said.

That must be music to the ears of officials at Ladbrokes Poker, considering Jepsen was the one person they wanted to lure to their site to represent the Danes.

"We only had one name on our papers when we decided to look for a new Danish player to be our feature player, and we are very glad Peter saw this as a great opportunity as well," Funch said. "It has cost us a big sack of Christmas money to win Peter over, but I am sure it is well spent as such."
