Jamie Gold joins Poker Icons
By PokerListings.com
Poker's all-time leading money winner has a new agent.
Poker Icons announced this week that Jamie Gold, the 37th Annual World Series of Poker Champion, has signed on with them.
"I'm very excited about joining Poker Icons," Gold said. "Their international presence and expertise in poker makes this relationship fit perfectly. I'm really looking forward to this partnership."
Some of the other pros on Poker Icons' roster include the first World Series of Poker Europe champion Annette Obrestad, Juha Helppi, Peter Jepsen, Jesper Hougaard, Chris Moorman, J.J. Liu and more.
Poker Icons said it was thrilled to add the former World Champion to their list as well.
Gold was thrust into the spotlight in 2006 when he made his way to the front of the pack on Day 4 of the WSOP Main Event. He turned that momentum into a record $12 million first-place win.
Earlier this year Gold signed a multi-million dollar endorsement deal with Aced.com, but that deal dissolved amidst non-payment speculation earlier this month.
Though he hasn't been able to duplicate that success in another major event outside the WSOP, Gold has used his high profile and experience with talent management to help with several charity events.
"Charity work is so close to my heart, and I'm blessed to be able to make a difference in combination with my poker career," Gold said.
He'll continue his charitable work this weekend with a celebrity poker night at the Cannes Film Festival.
Gold is joining with Ed Norton to host an event Sunday which will benefit the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation and the Sunflower Children Foundation.
The event is expected to draw famous politicians, actors, sports stars, businessman and more for a Texas Hold'em tournament that will award the winner a seat in the WSOP. The winner will also get private poker coaching from Gold.
