Hansen Nears $4 Million in Profit
The Gus Hansen train will simply not slow down this year as the Danish poker pro made another huge score last night.
Hansen burned through 2,360 hands on Full Tilt Poker and took down a staggering $410k. The win comes just one day after a $337k score and puts Hansen up $1.3 million in the last seven days and up to $3.9 million on the year.
Once again Hansen’s good friend and teammate Patrik Antonius was one of the key victims as the pair played a series of $300/$600 PLO 6-Max PLO sessions as well as some $3,000/$6,000 Omaha Hi-Lo.
Antonius lost a total of $241k and is in danger of slipping below the $1 million profit mark for the first time in over a month.
A recently reactivated Cole South joined the action but nothing could slow down a red-hot Hansen and South eventually booked a $161k loss.
Hansen wasn’t the only player to walk away with a big win last night as Ilari Sahamies made $169k on his “Ilari FIN” PokerStars account.
Sahamies made the majority of his cash playing Viktor “Isildur1” Blom at $50/$100 Pot-Limit Omaha.
Blom, who finally got even for the year earlier this week, was sent tumbling back down into the red with $197k in losses.
Some of the other big winners last night included ronnyr37617 (+$105k) and the lesser-known Cinderella03 (+$38k) and doubleU2 (+$28k).
There were plenty of notable players in the losing column, however, with O Fortuna PLS dropping $109k and Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen losing $32k.
With the WSOP set to begin next week there will likely be a huge drop off in high stakes online poker, which is a shame for Hansen, who needs less than $100k to once again crack the $4 million profit mark in 2011.
