Doyle prepares for High Stakes Poker war

Doyle Brunson is ready for some true high-stakes poker.

The stakes will be higher than ever in the upcoming episodes of High Stakes Poker. "It's going to be a war," says poker legend Doyle Brunson.

As PokerListings.com reported earlier, the minimum buy-in for High Stakes Poker will go from $100,000 to $500,000, starting with the episode airing Nov. 5.

Doyle Brunson will be one of the participants, and even though "The Godfather of Poker" has been involved in the poker world for decades, and played in the highest and toughest games available, he is prepared for something special.

"Never thought I'd see the day they had a poker game this big on TV," Brunson said in a trailer for the next episode.

"It's going to be a war."

Most of the players at the High Stakes Poker table are experienced pros, including Barry Greenstein, David Benyamine, Daniel Negreanu, Jamie Gold and Patrik Antonius.

There will, however, be one amateur playing as well - Guy Laliberté, co-founder and CEO of Cirque du Soleil.

The Canadian billionaire will get a lot of respect from his opponents - not for his superior skills, but for his superior bankroll.

"There is only one guy sitting in that game that can really afford to play this high, and that's Guy," said Brunson.

"This is a perfect platform for me to have fun," said Laliberté.
