Daily 3-Bet: Dutch Denied, Negreanu on Integrity, Battle of Malta Imminent
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a diploma from a third-rate school in the competitive field of mid-afternoon poker news.
We take suggestions for future 3-Bets so feel free to leave a message in the comments.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll be taking a look at Daniel Negreanu talking integrity in poker, Dutch Boyd applying for a regular job and the upcoming Battle of Malta.
1) Former Poker Pro Dutch Boyd Applies for Real Job, Gets Denied
Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Dutch Boyd recently applied for a job at a call center but got turned down thanks to his lack of a high school diploma or GED, according to a thread posted by Boyd on Reddit.
It’s slightly surprising considering Boyd started college at 12 years old, had his Associates by 13, Bachelors by 15 and Juris Doctorate at 18.
Getting turned down for the job prompted Boyd to start a thread on Reddit about the lamest reason to be turned down for a job.
Instead the thread quickly devolved into various Redditors slamming Boyd for his former involvement with PokerSpot.com and the site's failure to pay back players.
It’s eye opening to see Boyd, who was a sponsored pro in the mid-2000s, looking for a regular job.
Boyd has over $2 million in lifetime tournament earnings including the two World Series of Poker victories.
2) Negreanu Discusses Integrity, Lindgren, Lederer in Latest Video
Daniel Negreanu, sporting a new shaved-head look, bared his soul about integrity in his latest video rant.
Negreanu has taken some flack for blasting Howard Lederer for the Full Tilt mess while seemingly giving close friend Erick Lindgren a pass despite Lindgren allegedly owing a lot of money to people like Haralabos Voulgaris.
The video opens with Negreanu telling a story about how he made a bet in the early stages of his poker career that he was initially unable to pay back and the shame he felt about that incident.
Negreanu doesn’t always mention Lindgren by name in the video but does admit that one of his friends has made some “horrifyingly” bad mistakes.
One of Negreanu’s key arguments is that he feels Howard Lederer has never truly apologized to the poker community for his actions while other questionable characters have.
