Peter Jepsen now a Betfair Poker player

Peter "Zupp" Jepsen may be one of Europe's most-wanted poker players. Ladbrokes Poker announced in December 2008 that the Danish pro had signed with their site, but now Betfair Poker is laying claim to him.

Betfair Poker announced Monday that Peter Jepsen has signed an exclusive sponsorship deal with the poker site. He will join players such as Annette Obrestad, Sorel Mizzi and Joh Tabatabai on the Betfair Poker team.

"I am looking forward to starting my sponsorship with Betfair Poker," Jepsen said. "They have been really welcoming, and I already feel part of the team. It's given me new impetus to go out and get a big win under my belt."

Jepsen will be getting plenty of chances to find that big win as well. He indicated today during a press conference announcing his sponsorship during the first day of the European Poker Tour Copenhagen stop that he'd be playing all the major live tournaments coming up.

Jepsen already has an EPT win from taking down the Warsaw event in 2007. He also has a third-place finish from the 2006 Caribbean Poker Classic.

He is also a winning player online, where he's made a name for himself as a high-stakes player, and was part of the largest online hand in history when he scooped a $499,000 pot against Tom Dwan.

"I am also looking to play some high-stakes cash games on Betfair Poker against the other pros and [amateur] players," Jepsen said.

It is the Danish player's success at the virtual felt and at live events that made him so appealing to Betfair Poker.

"When we are looking for new players, we look for young, successful online players who have the ability to perform well at offline tournaments," said Bruce Stubbs, head of Betfair Poker.

"We now have four of the best multi-disciplined sponsored players in the industry, and I am confident that Peter will feel right at home on the Betfair Poker tables."
