A Look Ahead at The Festival Weekend Vilnius
Table of Contents
The Festival Series will host its first Weekend stop, and second overall stop of the year, next week in Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital city. The stop marks a first visit to the Baltic nation for Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk and The Festival team, and it is sure to be a successful one. Running from May 28th to June 1st, the small but succinct schedule promises something for everyone, from No Limit Hold’em to Sviten Special, to a Blackjack tournament, and a proper taste of a full Festival Series schedule over just four days. Here is a deeper look at what will be on store and where.
The Venue

The weekend will take place at Olympic Casino Lietuva, one of Lithuania’s largest and most popular casinos. It is located in the heart of Vilnius, a short walk from the city’s New Town and the Old Town. The Olympic Casino Lietuva is situated inside the Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, a four-star venue. This makes commuting to and from the casino a breeze if you choose to stay here. The casino is located on the upper floor. The hotel also boasts a Skybar on the top floor, a perfect place to take a break or chill between tournaments.

The casino itself is chic and modern, and a great setting for any occasion. There is ample space to accommodate cash games, with 20 tables available and action running around the clock throughout The Festival. Lithuania’s flagship casino features the luxurious bar (pictured above) and a wide array of table games; there are 77 different slot machines, 18 gaming tables featuring Blackjack, Roulette, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em, amongst others. Additionally, there are betting facilities courtesy of OlyBet, so bettors can place bets across an incredible range of sports.
The Schedule Highlights

€555 No Limit Hold’em Main Event
The schedule isn’t the largest, as is to be expected in a four-day tournament series, but there will be plenty of action to get stuck into for players across a range of games. The Festival Weekend kicks off proceedings with the first flight of the €555 No Limit Hold’em Main Event. Unlike previous Festival Series Main Events, this Main Event is a Progressive Knockout tournament, meaning players can claim bounties by knocking out other players (with poker hands, not fists). There is a flight every day until the final day. The final flight is a Hyper Turbo with 10-minute levels, and the first two flights come with 30-minute levels. All flights play down until only 12.5% of the total field remains in play. Players who progress to Day 2 will automatically be in the money.

€350 Sviten Special
The Mixed Game scene’s newest darling and Sweden’s most popular export since ABBA, Sviten Special, has captured the hearts and minds of Mixed Game fanatics globally. Having debuted at The Irish Open and the Asian Poker Tour in Taiwan this year, Sviten continues to grow in popularity. Last year at The Festival Bratislava, the Series hosted the largest Sviten Special tournament in terms of entrants, with 131 entering the tournament at Banco Casino last year.”Franke” will be looking to break the record once again, and this €350 Sviten tournament will be sure to attract a strong Scandinavian crowd. Levels run for 25 minutes, and late registration is available for the first 10 levels. The tournament starts at 4.30 p.m. local time on the opening day, May 28th.

Mixed Games Galore
For Mixed Games fans, The Festival is the place to play poker in Europe. The TORSES Main Event returns once again, this time with a discounted buy-in of €350, a €200 markdown on the usual €550. Featuring the classic Festival blend of all the best games, Triple Draw 2-7, Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz, Seven Card Stud, Stud Eight, and Sviten Special, this combination has been a hit with the players since changing from the stable that HORSES offered. Day 1 kicks off on Saturday, May 30, at 1 p.m. local time with 30-minute levels. Registration will remain open until the start of Day 2, Sunday, 31 May at 1 p.m. local time. For players who want to dip their toes into the Mixed Game waters, consider the €150 Baby TORSES Supreme on the final day. Same games, same structure, same faces at the table. It is a perfect way to learn the Mixed Games in a relaxed and accommodating setting at a very reasonable price point.
