What to Expect From WPT Australia

For almost three weeks, the World Poker Tour will plant its flag at The Star Sydney and as one of the biggest live tournament in The Land Down Under this year, expectations are running high. Adam Pliska, WPT CEO

Australia continues to be one of the world’s most passionate poker regions, and we look forward to welcoming players from around the globe as we crown the next WPT Champion.

This time, the Australian stop will be headlined by two marquee events happening back to back. The first of the two is the WPT Prime Australia Championship, from September 17 to September 22 with AUD $1,500 buy-in. The second is the WPT Australia Championship that picks up right after, September 24 and runs until September 30 with a AUD $5,000 buy-in.

While the rest of the schedule is still under wraps, the WPT did announce a AUD $500 Ladies Australian Championship on September 15 and 16, alongside bounty and PLO formats scattered across the three week festivities.

While we wait on more Australia-related details, WPT fanatics can look forward to the next stop on the 2026 summer schedule, WPT Cyprus at Chamada Prestige Hotel & Spa this August.
