A Look Ahead at The Festival Rozvadov

The Festival Series will be rolling into Rozvadov for a week of non-stop poker action from June 9th to June 15th. For those hoping for a Summer sunrun, Europe’s palace of poker, King’s Resort, is the place to do it. As per the norm with The Festival, a broad and eclectic range of games will be available for players of all bankrolls. From No Limit Hold’em to TORSES, 10-Game, and everything in between, it is the place to play Mixed Games in particular. Hold’em players still apply, with a €500,000 guaranteed Main Event available for €550, offering great value. Here is a look at what’s in store across the 36 unique events throughout the week.
The Venue
King’s Resort is one of Europe’s premier destinations for poker and gambling. This instalment marks the third collaboration between The Festival and King’s Resort. The largest poker room in Europe, it is 6,000 square meters of prime poker real estate, nestled in the Czech countryside in a town called Rozvadov, home to around 800 people. The gaming floor at King’s has over 160 poker tables, 300 slot machines across the floor and in various dedicated rooms, and table games, such as blackjack, roulette, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and Craps. In addition, it offers a 5-star hotel with nearly 400 rooms and Spa facilities. The venue is stunning. Well-lit, adorned with extravagant decorations, trinkets, and expensive artwork, King’s really needs to be seen to be believed. For food options, there is a dedicated restaurant, Radimský, or the Buffet hall, which is open most hours of the day.
Highlights From a Jam-Packed Schedule
€550 Main Event – €500,000 GTD
The biggest guarantee of the week comes in the €550 Main Event. With a whopping €500,000 up for grabs, the tournament is sure to attract a strong field across the seven flights. Flights 1A-1E come with 30-minute levels, a 50,000 starting stack, and unlimited re-entries for the first 10 levels. 1F is a Turbo with 15-minute levels, same buy-in, starting stack, and unlimited re-entries. €550 TORSES Main Event – €20,000 GTD
The marquee Mixed Game event of the week is the €550 TORSES Main Event. Featuring the classic Festival blend of all the best games, Triple Draw 2-7, Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz, Seven Card Stud, Stud Eight, and Sviten Special, the event is sure to attract a strong field of Europe’s best Mixed Game players. In Bratislava, the event attracted 79 entrants, and Thor Morstol won €10,365 for first.
€150 Sviten Special – €10,000 GTD
One of the hottest emerging variants and a Festival Series staple, Sviten Special, will grace the tournament floor at King’s Resort on opening day. The Festival Series already holds the record for most entrants in a Sviten Special tournament worldwide, and Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk will be gunning to break his own record. If there is a venue that could happen, it’s King’s. The tournament comes with a generous €10,000 guarantee, 25-minute levels, and unlimited entries for the first 8 levels.
€350 Open Face Chinese Pineapple – €10,000 GTD
Another variant growing in popularity is Open Face Chinese Pineapple, another game that has been a favourite on The Festival Series schedule. Fabian Bartuschk is expected to come and try to add another OFC title to his collection in this face-up game with a point-scoring system. Players get dealt five cards to start with, and the goal is to make three boards: two of five cards, one of three cards. The strongest hand must be on the bottom, the second strongest in the middle and the weakest on the top. Players will then be dealt three cards, and can only use two. This continues until each player has completed their boards. Each poker hand corresponds to points. Depending on which board the hand is in will change the points given, i.e. a flush in the middle is worth more than a flush on the bottom board. It is worth playing when it is available. It is an interesting game of strategy and luck that will keep you on your toes. The tournament kicks off at 11.30 am local time on Friday, 12th.
