Daily 3-Bet: McKeehen Warm-Up, $1m for Everyone, Angry Beevers

David Ulliott
Was the late Devilfish snubbed?

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is like a bonus $100 score at the slot machine while you’re waiting to hear your name called for the mid-afternoon poker news $1/$2 game.

You can always shoot us a request for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.

In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Joe McKeehen getting hot at just the right time, the fifth $1m Spin & Go winner in just seven days and an argument for more European players in the Poker Hall of Fame.

1) McKeehen Warms Up with Wynn Victory

2015 WSOP Main Event final table chip leader Joe “Dude904” McKeehen has been busy.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Not content to just sit around and wait for the final table to play out in November, McKeehen became the first of his fellow November Niners to win a separate tournament outright last night.

The Pennsylvania native outlasted a field of 267 players to take down the Wynn Fall Classic $1,600 Main Event for $90,125.

It’s not exactly a huge sum compared to the $7.6m 2015 Main Event first-place prize but it’s a nice time to find your form.

McKeehen is actually just the latest in a long line of November Niners who have found success during the break.

Perhaps the most famous was in 2009 when November Niners James Akenhead and Antoine Saout BOTH made the WSOP Europe Main Event final table.

Ivan Demidov also finished third in the 2008 WSOPE Main Event.

2) Fifth Player Hits $1m Spin & Go in Seven Days

Cash
Cash for everyone.

Now this is getting ridiculous.

Last night handbt1 from Germany won $1m in a $5 buy-in Spin & Go on PokerStars. He was the FIFTH player to do so over the last seven days.

Once you include the $100k the second and third place finishers receive that means PokerStars has awarded over $6m in Spin & Go jackpots since Oct. 21.

Don’t believe it? Here are the rest of the winners and the dates on which they won:

October 26, ‘barrakuuda4’ from Estonia became a millionaire from a $100 Spin & Go tournament.

October 25, ’prophethicks’ from England became a millionaire from a $5 Spin & Go tournament.

October 22, ‘wrawras’ from Brazil became a millionaire from a $100 Spin & Go tournament.

October 21, ‘Samara Lúcio’ from Brazil became a millionaire from a $5 Spin & Go tournament.

3) Beevers Blasts Poker Hall of Fame Choices

Joe Beevers
Joe "The Elegance" Beevers has a bone to pick.

Jennifer Harman and John Juanda were elected into the Poker Hall of Fame yesterday.

Not everyone was thrilled.

Joe Beevers, of Hendon Mob fame, published a blog post today called “When is a Hall of Fame Not a Hall of Fame” that ripped into the decision to once again skip over the European candidates.

His main point is that Americans vote for Americans and he’s got a point:

There are zero living non American’s in the PHOF and the only non American name I can see in the list of (now) 50 is Edmond Hoyle inducted in 1980 (he died in 1769). Sounds like they have a fair system here with no bias whatsoever right? Yeah right.

Beevers went on to announce his own alternative Hall of Fame and elected the late David “Devilfish” Ulliott as its first and only member so far.
