WSOP Europe Adds Ladies Bracelet Event to 2013 Schedule

Gaëlle Baumann is part of a new crop of successful French female poker players.

For the first time since its inception in 2007 the World Series of Poker Europe will feature a Ladies gold bracelet event.

It's been nearly four decades since the Ladies Championship was introduced to the main World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, and the WSOP thinks it's time to take that tradition on the road.

“We first offered a Ladies event at the Vegas WSOP in 1977, and felt it was the right time to add this tradition to WSOPE,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.

“We need to do more to promote ladies' involvement with the game, and with the many breakout stars in the region, it feels like a women’s European championship is long overdue.”

This addition adds one day to the original schedule with the Ladies event kicking off the action October 11 at the Casino Barrière d’Enghien-les-Bains, just outside of Paris.

French women have had big success on the world stage over the last few years.

In 2012 Gaëlle Baumann bubbled the final table of the WSOP Main Event, and the year before that Lucille Cailly came second in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo. Providing Official Live Coverage and Video
