The best birthday gift is the one you earn yourself. Yanting Jiang spent 10 hours playing the $3K Mid-Stakes Championship NLHE on her birthday — and the very next day, she won the tournament. Here’s her story, along with the other WSOP winners from the latest session.

Yanting Jiang finished the penultimate day as the chip leader, locking up at least $58.3K. That alone would have been a milestone, as she had earned just over $40K in live tournament cashes before this event. But Jiang wasn’t done yet—she went on to win her first WSOP bracelet and the $1,159,182 top prize.

In her winner’s interview, Jiang shared that she is a single mother of two and said she prays to God every day and accepts whatever He sends her.

Johnny Oshana Wins The $300 Gladiators Of Poker For $250K

Johnny Oshana works as a mechanical engineer and has been playing tournaments with buy-ins of up to $1,000 as a hobby for the past 16 years. During that time, he accumulated around $280K in tournament earnings.

He entered the final day second in chips but lost a prefinal-table all-in with pocket fives against Kenneth Baime’s pocket kings, dropping to just 9 BB. After that hand, Oshana told himself he was going to win the tournament because he plays better with a short stack — and he proved himself right. In the end, he and Baime met again in heads-up play.
