Bomb Pot vs. Splash Pots: What’s the Difference at CoinPoker

After Splash Pots appeared on the crypto forum, some players were confused, not understanding the difference between them and Bomb Pot games. Specifically, when both features are available for NLH, PLO, PLO5 and PLO6, on the same stakes from $0.01/0.02 to $25/50 — what’s the difference?

If you’re still confused about this, we’ve compiled all the explanations on this page for you.

How Bomb Pots Games Works

At Bomb Pot cash tables, players periodically pay additional blinds of 1 BB to 4 BB to increase the pot — and then go straight to the flop without playing any cards pre-flop.

Players have access to different Bomb Pot variations based on activation frequency:

  • Every Hand Bomb Pot — marked in the lobby with a bomb icon.
  • Random Hands Bomb Pot — marked in the lobby with an icon that looks like a bomb with the letter R on it.

This feature is also available to players at Double Board tables.

Specifics of Splash Pots

Unlike Bomb Pot, Splash Pots aren’t a permanent feature at certain tables. Instead, they function as a cash drop, part of CoinRewards, and appear randomly at all cash games in the room, excluding private tables.

The prize pool for Splash Pots is collected from each cash game hand, at a rate of 0.1 BB from the pot. Depending on the drop type, the pot boost range varies:

  • Regular Splash Pots: 2 BB — 49 BB
  • Mega (Infused) Splash Pots: 50 BB — 1,000 BB

The feature is activated at the beginning of the hand, before players receive any cards. After the pot is boosted, play continues as usual with all betting rounds — preflop, flop, turn, and river.

Comparison of Bomb Pot Games and Splash Pots

While Bomb Pots and Splash Pots can look very similar on paper, they differ in key characteristics:

  • How their prize pool is formed
  • What is the pot size
  • How many betting rounds are played
  • How often are they available to players

The main difference is that Bomb Pot is a game type, a table format with a specific feature, while Splash Pots are a cash drop, a bonus available in games of various formats, including Bomb Pot Cash Games.
