Phenom Poker Gets a Major Update: CHIP & Base Migration and New Features

Phenom Poker updated on August 25. At first glance, nothing has changed. But this is one of the room’s most important updates. Here’s what CHIP is, why it’s needed, and what else has been added.

What Is CHIP on Phenom Poker?

CHIP is the Base ERC-20 in-game currency. The game now runs on CHIP instead of USDT Polygon.

Phenom’s in-game CHIP currency does not change in value. 1 CHIP = 1 USDT. The reserves are fully backed and available for on-chain verification. When you make a deposit, CHIP are issued to your wallet. When you make a withdrawal, CHIP are redeemed and you receive a stablecoin.

There are no fees for players, and no gas is required.

In other words, Base ERC-20 CHIP is now used instead of USDT Polygon. The PHNM token, which is used for rakeback payments, remains unchanged.

Why Did Phenom Switch From USDT Polygon to CHIP on Base?

To make the game faster. Previously, player balances were on Base, while the game ran on Polygon. This could cause balance issues (for example, auto-rebuy might not work). Now both balances and the game are on Base. As a result, tournament registration, unregistering, and auto-rebuy all happen instantly.

What Do Players Need to Do After the Update?

Launch the client, enter your 2FA code, and click the Authorize wallet button. Your funds will be converted automatically. Your gaming wallet address will not change.

What Updates Will Follow CHIP?

The migration to Base opens up new possibilities. Phenom has announced:

  • additional deposit methods
  • jackpots
  • new game formats (Phenom hints: have you ever been to Taiwan?)
  • PHNM Lending
  • Tournament Series

Phenom Poker Update Review: August 25

The migration to Base is the biggest, but not the only update to Phenom Poker. Here’s what else has changed.

Global chat has been added. It is located directly in the main menu below your avatar, balance, and information about the PHNM price. Only KYC-verified players can post. Moderation works the same way as in table chats.

Hand history search. Copy the hand ID at the table during the game, enter it in the search bar under More — Hand History, and go directly to that hand.

Hot Tables in the lobby. Hot Tables are tables with additional rakeback for players who launch the game. These tables are now displayed in a separate section above the list of all tables. The table card shows the amount of additional rakeback and the number of players who will receive it.

The mobile version of the client has been improved. The top seats at the table are no longer hidden behind the multi-tabling tabs. The tabs for open tables no longer shift around. The visuals have also been improved.

Several bugs and errors have been fixed.

What Games Are Available on Phenom Poker?

  • three PLO Mix $10/20 tables — 4-, 5-, and 6-card Omaha
