Reigning WSOP champ handicaps November Nine

But this weekend, as the latest edition of the November Nine plays out, Peter Eastgate's reign as World Champion will come to a close.

"You can never stop the clock; there will always be a new world champion," Eastgate told PokerListings. "Why should I have any sad emotions about that? I'll just be the ex-world champion. Nothing is being taken away from me, maybe a bit of the attention, but nothing else."

Eastgate defended his title well, making it deep again this summer before busting out 78th.

He remembers playing with both Joe Cada and Kevin Schaffel and appeared particularly impressed with the player who could replace him as the youngest champion in Main Event history.

"I have always been impressed by the young guys in poker," he said. "I like their spirit. I like the way they develop their skills by playing a lot online. That's how I have developed my own skills, so I feel like I'm part of the same breed as them - The young online community going into the live arena.

"I think this group of young players has an advantage and even though I only have a small experience of playing against Cada, I've been impressed. He certainly belongs to that group."

All eyes at the final table will likely be on the man widely considered the best player on the planet.

And although Eastgate has very little experience playing against Phil Ivey, he will be no different.

"It's very easy, if you go by the stats, to rule him as the best player as he has the best results," Eastgate said. "Everyone who's played with him says he's the best. I've only played with him for one orbit of the EPT High Roller in London in Season 5, but he wouldn't remember that.

"It lasted for like 30 minutes, so I don't really have any experience, but everyone says he's the best, so he probably is."

Eastgate took advantage last November as chip leader Dennis Phillips saw his stack eroded, eventually busting out third.

As a result, he's not sure how much of an advantage the chip lead will give Maryland logger Darvin Moon this time around.

"Obviously he has the chip advantage, but I don't know how he's going to manage that," he said. "From the way he's conducted himself, he seems like a pretty fearless guy, so I assume he would put the pressure on his opponents and try to take advantage of the prize jumps."

Eastgate said he hasn't met Eric Buchman, Steven Begleiter, Jeff Shulman, Antoine Saout or James Akenhead.

But the UK resident said there seems to be a lot of respect in the poker community for Akenhead.

However, if he were a betting man, there's only one person Eastgate would bet on.

"Darvin's the favorite, Ivey is the best player, but I'd go for Cada, if I was betting on it," he said.

To follow all the action at the final table until a new World Champion is crowned, tune into PokerListings 2009 WSOP Main Event Live Coverage beginning at 12 p.m. PT Saturday, Nov. 7.

Visit PokerListings.com

Isildur1 crushes Cole South for $500k

Only this time it was Isildur1 holding the knife as he beat the CardRunners pro out of nearly $500k.

Last night's edition of the online rivalry started off with the two players playing $100/$200 and $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha.

As usual, South proved to be the stronger PLO player, making over $84k in just 112 hands before Isildur1 called it quits.

Isildur1 returned to the tables three hours later to play a lengthy session of $50/$100 No-Limit Hold'em against unknown online player URnotINdanger2. Isildur1 took the unknown for over $60k before getting back in touch with South for round two.

Isildur1, who understands his strength is NLH, argued that the two should play Hold'em since they already played PLO earlier that day. Up over $84k from earlier, South had no choice but to accept.

The two players sat at $200/$400 NLH, and after two hours and more than 2,000 hands, Isildur1 had utterly destroyed South for almost $600k.

At the end of the night, Isildur1 had made a $574k profit, all but $74k of which came from South.

Below are the biggest hands from the NLH battle or you can head to MarketPulse to get your fill.

That's the suck!

Bluff fail.

No diamonds left to come.

Visit PokerListings.com

All eyes on Ivey: The legend speaks

They call this the November Nine, but as ESPN's George McNeilly suggested last week, in the minds of many, it's just Phil Ivey and eight other guys.

Consensus is Ivey is the greatest player in the world and this coming Saturday he will have a legitimate shot at poker's most prestigious title.

In an exclusive interview with PokerListings, Ivey himself said no one wants it more.

"It would be a dream come true to win it," the Team Full Tilt Pro said. "Making it to the final table is great, yes, but I really, really want to win it.

"It's very important to me. I remember the first time I watched poker on TV I saw Scotty Nguyen win the Main Event. That was the very first time I watched, I thought then that it would be cool to win that tournament and now I have a chance."

While Nguyen's 1998 win was the first time Ivey watched poker on TV, it certainly wasn't his first introduction to the game.

"I just always loved to play cards," he said. "I started playing I Declare War when I was four or five years old and then my grandfather taught me how to play poker, he kind of like taught me the rules and everything. We used to play with pennies. I loved to play every chance I got."

The California born and New Jersey raised Ivey started playing small cash games in High School, got himself a fake ID and soon hit the casinos in Atlantic City.

When he turned 21, he started flashing his real ID and began to take the game a little more seriously.

"I was playing in casinos before that, but I wasn't really trying to make a living at it," he said. "I just liked to play. It was something I would just do as a hobby. I would sneak down there and play because I loved it. I just thought it was a fascinating game. I didn't really think too much about making a living at it.

"But then when I started making money and I started looking at the other players that were playing, I just said 'wait a second, I could beat these guys,' and that's when I said 'let me put everything I have into this and see where it goes.'"

Success came relatively quickly, as Ivey won his first WSOP bracelet in 2000 at age 24, final tabled another event and narrowly missed a third.

He made a another final table at the WSOP in 2001, but 2002 was truly his breakout year. Ivey won three bracelets, tying the record for the most wins in a single series.

Another WSOP win and more final tables, million dollar scores in Europe, and a win after an amazing eight WPT final tables would soon follow as Ivey developed into one of the most feared tournament players on the planet, while also taking on all comers in the biggest cash games in the world.

This past summer, he added two more WSOP bracelets to his wrist, becoming the youngest in history to hold seven at age 33.

He also became poker's third leading money winner all-time with more than $12 million in career tournament earnings.

But despite the fact he's done almost as much as anyone in the game's history, Ivey seems to have a keen understanding that poker is more about losing than winning.

"I don't like to lose, but poker, it humbles you, because you realize that no matter how good you are, you are going to have losing days, you are going to have losing weeks and you are even going to have some losing months," he said. "I haven't had a losing year yet, thank God. But you are going to have to learn how to deal with losing in order to become a better winner.

"That's why I think poker is such a wonderful game. There are guys that play certain sports that hardly ever lose, but in poker, you are just going to have to lose."

Through both the winning and losing, Ivey says he's learned some valuable lessons.

"You learn about yourself," he said. "You teach yourself how to deal with the ups and downs, and also how to control your thoughts, your negative thoughts, how to control what you're thinking and realize why you think what you're thinking. You really realize a lot about yourself if you get deep into poker.

"You have to learn a lot about yourself in order to become one of the best players in the world."

Ivey's road to Main Event glory is actually littered with missed opportunities.

He finished 23rd in 2002, a heartbreaking 10th in 2003 and 20th in 2005.

Although he's a little short on chips coming into Saturday's final, he truly believes this is his time.

"Now I have a shot," he said. "I'm seventh in chips, but you know what, I feel pretty comfortable with the close to ten million that I have. I don't feel like I'm in a rush. I can just take my time and get a hold of some chips. If I have to go all in I will. But whatever comes to me, I'm just going to take it."

While the rest of the November Nine is a good mix of seasoned pros and surprisingly savvy amateurs, Ivey is the only one who really puts fear into the hearts of his competitors.

In fact, chip leader Darvin Moon told PokerListings if Ivey even looks at him the wrong way, he's likely to muck his hand.

Part of what creates that fear is that Ivey is a bit of mystery to the poker world.

He doesn't do a lot of interviews, but says that's more of a personal choice than an attempt to help cultivate an imposing image at the table.

"It's not like I'm against interviews," he said. "I'm not. I don't mind doing interviews. I don't mind sitting down and talking to you about poker and other things. But there are things I'd rather be doing besides talking about poker when I'm playing poker 15 to 16 hours a day."

Ivey says the average player just simply isn't logging the hours that he is.

"These guys that do all these interviews, they're able to do all these interviews because they don't play as much poker as I do." He said. "When I get knocked out of a tournament, I'm rushing to the Bellagio to play poker. I'm rushing to the Internet to play poker, or going to the golf course, or going to play blackjack or whatever, because that's what I'd rather be doing."

Regardless, the fear his opponent's feel works to his advantage, although Ivey claims he hasn't made any deliberate attempt to create it.

"When I sit down and play with someone, it's not like they say 'Hey, Phil, I fear you,'" he said. "Maybe some people do, but it's not like they say it. So you've got to kind of figure it out, and you figure it out by how they're playing hands against you and everything else.

"The thing is, people try to create these table images, but that hurts them because you can't really create a table image. It has to be based on your results and how you do. People try, some people want to talk, they want to do this, they want to that, I just think people more or less know that my image is, if you mess with me, and you play a certain way against me, I'm going to get your money."

Ivey hasn't written any how-to books. He doesn't make the training videos that have become so popular with so many other professional players.

But again, he says it's not an attempt to conceal his strategy or perpetuate his dominating table image.

He's just too busy playing poker.

"I play poker all the time and I think that's what gives me my edge and what keeps me as sharp as I am when I'm playing," he said. "I love to play poker, I still do. I think a lot of these guys, they wonder why their games are suffering and everything else. It's because they don't work as hard as I do."

But despite the fact he has deliberately avoided the spotlight in the past, finally winning the WSOP Main Event title this weekend might change all that, as he learns to embrace a role as an ambassador for the game.

"As far as me being an ambassador for poker, I don't know; maybe if I win the Main Event it'll be something that is forced upon me and I don't really mind that," he said. "As I'm getting older I'm starting to understand how important my place in history, in poker and doing the right things by everyone, is.

"But at the end of the day, you have to make yourself happy too. I have to be a happy person. I'll take the interviews and I'll do the things to help grow poker as a sport, I have no problem doing that, but I'm also not going to give up my life to do that.

"I want to keep some type of balance and I think that's important."

To follow Ivey and the entire November Nine, tune into PokerListings 2009 WSOP Main Event Live Coverage beginning at 12 p.m. PT Saturday, Nov. 7.

If you want to hear everything Ivey had to say check out the full video interview in the blog section.

Visit PokerListings.com

Brian Townsend rocks Isildur1 for $300k

Just like Tuesday night, Isildur1 played thousands of hands of poker, half Hold'em and half Omaha.

And also much like Tuesday, his opponents included Cole South, a lesser known online player known as jungleman12 and a seasoned Full Tilt Pro in Brian Townsend.

Last night's action began with Isildur1 playing $100/$200 No-Limit Hold'em heads up against jungleman12. After 3,546 hands and almost four hours, jungleman12 left the game having lost over $174k.

Almost immediately, Isildur1 took a seat across from South. In recent conversations between the two, Isildur1 had been complaining that South only ever plays him on Omaha tables.

South decided to give the unknown Swede a shot as they took seats at $200/$400 NLHE.

The session lasted 2,153 hands, with multiple $100k+ pots being played. In the end it was a small victory for Isildur1, who left with just $27k of South's money.

Attempting to capitalize on his night of run-good, Isildur1 chose to finish it off playing $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha heads-up against the comeback kid, Brian Townsend.

If Isildur1's performance from the previous two nights is any indication, PLO is a serious leak in his game. After having made over $200k across 5,699 hands of Hold'em, Isildur1 got quickly crushed by Townsend, losing over $317k in just 339 hands.

Just like on Tuesday, at the end of the night, Isildur1 had lost just over $115k. And once again his losses were greatly lessened by his profits on the Hold'em tables.

Below are the largest hands from Isildur1's night, or you can head to MarketPulse to see the rest.

This is why Omaha's such an action game.

Ouch!

Almost a suckout.

Visit PokerListings.com

It could be the enormous prize pool, the exotic location or the fact it isn't attached to a major poker tour, but most players seem to agree the Aussie Millions stands alone in the poker world.

PartyPoker players who registered through PokerListings.com will now have a chance to experience the tournament for themselves this January, thanks to an exclusive tournament set for Nov. 28, 2009.

The tournament will be limited to just 30 players with one of them walking away with a $15,000 Aussie Millions package that includes airfare, accommodations and the $10,000 AUD main event buy-in.

PokerListings players will have two chances to qualify for the Aussie Millions giveaway.

The first will take place Nov. 7 at 20:00 GMT while the second kicks off Nov. 14 also at 20:00 GMT. Both events will cost $22 to enter and the final 15 in each will qualify for the Nov. 28 final.

The Aussie Millions takes place at the prestigious Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. It is the biggest poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere. Last year Sydney resident Stewart Scott outlasted 681 players to win $2 million AUD.

Previous winners of the event include poker pros Alexander Kostritsyn, Gus Hansen and Lee "Final Table" Nelson.

This year's Aussie Millions main event will take place Jan. 24-30, 2010.
Discovering Saout: The unknown November Niner

But in an interview with PokerListings before leaving his home in Saint Martin des Champs, France for the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event final nine in Las Vegas this weekend, Saout said that's just the way he likes it.

"It's even better if nobody is talking about me," he said.

The 25-year-old former engineering student, who qualified for his seat in the Main Event through a $50 satellite on Everest Poker, will likely need any edge anonymity can give him, coming into the final with the second shortest stack.

But he is also coming with a relaxed attitude.

"For the moment, I don't feel any pressure," he said. "Maybe it will come when I see the supporters once I arrive at the final table. I don't know."

Saout spent the end of the summer and early part of fall preparing for the Main Event by playing major tournaments across Europe.

There he proved his spot at the final table was no fluke, joining fellow November Niner shortstack James Akenhead at the final table of the World Series of Poker Europe main event.

He's now hoping the confidence that experience has helped him build will carry him forward in Las Vegas.

"I have had the opportunity to play a lot of tournaments thanks to my sponsorship with Everest Poker," he said. "That helped me gain more self-confidence, confidence in my game, and to earn more experience. Now I feel like I'm ready to play in the biggest tournaments."

Saout, who played much of the Main Event at a table with Phil Ivey, also spent some of his time studying the rest of the November Nine.

"I have been able to see a little bit of their game on ESPN videos," he said. "But I think that's not a guarantee. Within three months they have had time to change their game. And when it's time for the final table, it will be a special atmosphere, which could make them play differently."

Saout credits his math and analytical skills for his recent success in poker.

He multi-tables online and regularly leans on a close knit group of friends for strategy advice.

"I still talk about hands with my friends, both live and online poker hands," he said. "It is always good to get some other points of view. I also learn thanks to the big volume of games that I can play. And of course, I learn from my mistakes."

With Darvin Moon, Eric Buchman, Steven Begleiter, Jeff Shulman, Joe Cada, Kevin Schaffel, and Ivey all holding more chips coming into Saturday's final, Saout has his work cut out for him.

But the former junior champion Pétanque player sounds more than prepared for it.

"Everything is possible," he said. "But the road to victory is still long."

To follow Saout's progress and the entire 2009 WSOP Main Event final table, tune into PokerListings Live Coverage beginning at 12 p.m. PST Saturday, Nov. 7.

- With files from Fred Guillemot

Visit PokerListings.com

Cole South teaches Isildur1 a $300k lesson

The two players started their 4,727 hand battle on the $100/$200 PLO tables.

Isildur1, who punters have speculated is everyone from an alter-ego for fellow unknown Swede martonas to retired Swedish football star Henrik Larsson, took the early lead, making $12,000 before South logged off on a 1.5 hour long break.

Once South left, Isildur1 sat with Observer84 at $200/$400 No-Limit Hold'em, making over $110k before Observer84 hit the rail.

Rather than sit idle, Isildur1's took his next seat at $300/$600 NLHE across from online-Goliath Patrik Antonius. The two only played for 30min, but that was more than enough time for Isildur1 to take almost $80k from the red letter pro.

But it was at this point South returned to the felt for round two.

After 641 hands, and South making over $78k, the two players made their jump to $200/$400 PLO, where they stayed for the final 3,100 hands, and the remainder of the evening.

By the end, South left the tables with a little over $300,000 of Isildur1's money.

But thanks to his Hold'em victories, Isildur1's total losses were contained to $119k.

Below you can see the largest pots between South and Isildur1, or you can head to MarketPulse to watch as many as you'd like.

He wanted a heart, just not that heart.

Hard to fold this one.

Another set for Isildur1.

Visit PokerListings.com

EPT 6 second-half schedule released

The major change to the schedule sees the addition of a new event in the Austrian Alps - the first 'EPT Snowfest' in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, running March 21-26, 2010.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of Austria's premier ski areas and PokerStars qualifiers will also win a six-day ski package for this event.

Traditional stops in France, Denmark, Italy and the Grand Final in Monaco remain on the schedule, but the German leg of the tour will see a city and venue change.

The EPT will not be returning to Dortmund and although the new location has yet to be finalized, it appears it will likely be held in Berlin or Hamburg.

The second half of the schedule will also see the addition of several side events.

"There has been huge enthusiasm for the new EPT schedule and also for the bigger 'Festivals of Poker' like the one we held in London, and will be holding at the PCA, San Remo and Monte Carlo events," said EPT CEO John Duthie.

"The spectacular success of the EPT London Poker Festival a few weeks ago shows that players really relish the chance to play more side events, with a variety of games and buy-ins."

Last season's EPT proved a success with 11 events generating an overall prize pool of almost €55 million - more than any other poker tour.

Almost 8,000 players from 97 countries participated and with 13 events now on the schedule for Season 6, organizers believe the EPT is certain to smash records again.

Online satellites for EPT Portugal and the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure are running now and others are planned in the coming months for future events.

Below is a look at the remainder of the EPT schedule. For more information the EPT website can be found here.

Tournament

Date

Venue

Buy-in

Cap

EPT Portugal

Nov. 17-22, 2009

Vilamoura

€5,000+300

600

EPT Prague

Dec. 1-6, 2009

Hilton

€5,000+250

600

PCA

Jan. 4-14, 2010

Atlantis

$10,000+300

1,600

EPT Deauville

Jan. 20-25, 2010

Casino Barriere de Deauville

€5,000+300

600

EPT Copenhagen

Feb. 16-21, 2010

Casino Copenhagen

35,000+2,250DKK

500

EPT Germany

Mar. 2-7, 2010

TBC

TBC

TBC

EPT Snowfest

Mar. 21-26, 2010

Alpin Palace Saalbach-Hinterglemm

€3,500+300

500

EPT San Remo

April 15-21, 2010

Casino San Remo

€5,000+300

TBC

EPT Grand Final

April 25-May 1, 2010

Sporting Club Monte Carlo

€10,000+600

1,000

Visit PokerListings.com

Michelle, Ho bust out of The Amazing Race

The pair lasted a total of seven weeks on the hit CBS reality show and traveled half-way around the globe before running into two obstacles they simply couldn't overcome.

Despite their elimination the pair was upbeat when they talked to PokerListings this week.

"I'm incredibly pleased with how we did," said Ho. "We aren't the most physical people and we were totally out of our element."

"Amazing is the perfect way to describe our experience," said Michelle. "It was the most challenging thing I have done and it was perspective and life changing."

Despite their deep run on the show, the pair might be best remembered for a controversial move in the very first episode. Michelle and Ho decided to inform the teams they were competing against that they were non-profit workers instead of poker players.

The ruse didn't work as they were quickly identified by a poker fan at an airport later in the first episode. Several teams were miffed at the misrepresentation.

Both Michelle and Ho insisted they weren't doing it for sympathy, but were instead trying to hide the fact they were successful poker players.

"We were coming from a strategic point of view and we just wanted to highlight another part of our lives," said Michelle. "It wasn't anything that wasn't truthful."

"Nobody wants to help people that do alright for themselves," added Ho.

Michelle mentioned she does work with the L.A. Youth Network and both have played numerous charity tournaments including Ante Up for Africa.

Ho and Michelle were the only all-female team competing in this season of The Amazing Race and it proved to be a serious challenge.

"It was 10 million times harder than I thought it would be," said Michelle. "Just from a muscle point of view we were at a disadvantage."

No female team has ever won the race.

In their final episode, Michelle and Ho couldn't perform either one of the detour challenges they attempted and were forced to eventually take a 24-hour penalty, thus eliminating them from the show. Both challenges were physical in nature.

"I have no regrets about how we went out," said Ho. "We gave it all we had, but at a certain point you just have to accept there are things you just can't do."

With the show behind them both, Ho and Michelle have plans to return to the poker circuit at the British Columbia Poker Championship in Vancouver and then the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond at Bellagio in Las Vegas.

"I think for the first time we just want to go play poker," said Michelle. "It will be exciting to get back out there and see all the faces."

The mainstream exposure they received on The Amazing Race seems here to stay and Ho appeared on Anderson Cooper 360 this week in a panel on women breaking into the male-dominated world of business.

Meanwhile, Michelle recently launched a clothing line and plans on continuing her acting career by auditioning for roles in both television and film.

Visit PokerListings.com

Dwan loses another $1.3 million

It appears Dwan's biggest leak is table selection, as he chose to spend his entire night sitting across from two of the most feared and respected players in the world: Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Phil Ivey.

Dwan's night started on his two private $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tables with Sahamies and the action was nothing less than furious with a $160k pot played just three hands in, and multiple $300k pots played over the duration of the session.

After almost two hours and 274 hands, Sahamies came out well on top with over $626k of Dwan's money.

Dwan then went on to play the same game heads up against Ivey, quickly losing $200k over a short 35-hand session.

However, Dwan wasn't just getting schooled on the PLO tables. His attempts at making some of his losses back by playing 7-Game went just as poorly.

Across 1,053 hands Dwan lost another $475k on the mixed tables bringing his losses on the night to $1.3 million.

In the end, Ivey came out with the largest profit of $586k, over $100k ahead of Sahamies' final $463k result.

Patrik Antonius failed to keep his year's profit above the $7 million dollar mark, losing a little over $140k, but still remains the year's top earner by more than $3 million.

Below are replays of some of last night's largest pots, head to MarketPulse to see the rest.

Ziigmund hit the **** out of that flop.

the seven of clubs = Dwan's money card.

Aces hold.

Visit PokerListings.com

Patrik Antonius tops $7 million on the year

But perhaps even more impressive than hitting the $7 million mark is the fact that it took him 148,020 hands to do it.

This year only two players in the high-stakes world have logged more hands: Tom Dwan with 195,407 and Gus Hansen with 225,980.

Somewhat surprisingly, out of the three players, Antonius is the only one to have results in the black.

Hansen added the last 1,000 of his hands last night on the 7-Game tables, losing $81k in the effort.

Dwan, who has just come off a $1 million loss, spent his night playing on PokerStars under the handle Hold_emNL.

Over the span of his session he played four different games: $100/$200 Pot-Limit Omaha (-$10k), $200/$400 PLO (-$7k), $200/$400 No-Limit Hold'em ($11k) and $1,000/$2,000 Fixed-Limit Hold'em ($36k).

At the end of the night Dwan left with a $28k profit.

Also playing at PokerStars' high-stakes tables was WSOP Main Event winner Peter Eastgate, who played a 12-hour session yesterday and ground out a healthy $77k profit.

Below you can see some of the hands played on PokerStars, or head to MarketPulse to see how the rest of the biggest pots of the night played out.

Slightly Set-up.

A good old suck, re-suck.

Dwan will take you down to the river.

Visit PokerListings.com

At the beginning of August, Gamynia Limited agreed to pay $9,075,000 plus a percentage of future revenues for almost all of WPT Enterprises assets, including its television, sponsorship, distribution and licensing units.

The deal was put on hold pending stockholder approval and in the interim an offer was made from a subsidiary of PartyGaming, which also owns the online poker site PartyPoker.

The deal was similar to the Gamynia offer, except the subsidiary, Peerless Media Ltd., had agreed to pay $12.3 million for the company's assets and 5% of future gaming and other revenues.

Last week, the WPT held a shareholders' meeting to vote on the Peerless Media offer, but before it was concluded a third offer was tendered.

This third offer came from Mandalay Media, Inc., a global publisher and distributor of branded entertainment for 3G mobile networks.

According to a press release from WPT Enterprises, the offer was rejected by its board of directors, as was a modified offer seeking to acquire the company's assets for a whopping $36.5 million, consisting of $28.5 million in cash, $5 million in Mandalay Media stock and perpetual revenue participation rights, guaranteed to be at least $3 million.

Plus, shareholders have voted to accept the Peerless Media offer and it is now expected to be finalized in the early part of this month.

PokerListings is scheduled to meet with WPT and PartyGaming executives Nov. 6 to discuss the future of the tour and will have more on this story following that meeting.

Visit PokerListings.com

The series will culminate with the $5,000 main event, which begins Nov. 20.

"The entire Trump organization is firmly committed to doing something special each year to make the USPC sizzle, so this year we've added a $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship event, which will be televised as well," added Gitto.

Since its inception in 1996 the USPC has been frequented by poker greats like Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, John Juanda, T.J.

The PokerStars.com UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) will feature nine events in regional locations providing players with what PokerStars is calling "a first-class poker experience at an affordable local level."

The events will have a range of buy-ins from £500+£50 to £1,000+£100 for UK based tournaments and €1,000+€100 and €2,000 for events in Ireland.

"This is an incredibly exciting addition to the range of PokerStars live events," said Team PokerStars PRO Vicky Coren. "The buy-ins are great: big enough to make chunky prize pools, not so big that they're a huge drain on resources."

The first UKIPT event will be held in Galway, Ireland from December 11-14, 2009, in the Radisson Hotel. The event will be held as part of the popular Irish Poker Championships.

The first UK based UKIPT event will be held in Manchester from February 11-14, 2010 at the Grosvenor G-Casino.

Events will also be held in Nottingham, Killarney, Brighton, Scotland and Dublin with the Grand Final taking place as part of the PokerStars.com EPT London event next October.

In addition to the UKIPT title and prize money, all winners will earn a seat in the Grand Final.

The UKIPT will also have its own Points Leader Board featuring prizes for the top players at the end of the season, including PokerStars.com sponsorship in UKIPT events during the second season for the top 3 players and a £10,000 freeroll for the top 100.

Daily satellites are already running on PokerStars for as little as $0.25 or 250 FPPs.

Full details of the PokerStars UKIPT schedule can be found below.
PokerStars Baltic Festival crowns a champion
