Bruno Politano: 2014 WSOP Main Event November Nine Bio

Bruno Politano could become the first-ever Brazilian world champion of poker.

Bruno Politano has been playing poker for 12 years but he isn't a professional.

The first Brazilian to ever make the November Nine Politano is a shop owner who says even though he's not a pro, poker has been very kind to his bank account.

Politano is more commonly known as “Foster”, a nickname he picked up playing the first-person shooter video game Quake as a teenager.

Politano has $110,054 in recorded live tournament earnings but will be adding to that in a big way come November with a guaranteed $730,725.

Just like every other November Niner, however, Politano's sights will be set squarely on the $10 million first-place prize and the title of world champion.

"I Believe a Lot in Energy"

Politano also has online poker experience with $304,688 in earnings under the screen-name foster18 on Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars. Politano's biggest online result was a runner-up finish in an FTOPS event in 2010 for $94,000.

Poker has been experiencing an explosion in popularity in Brazil in recent years with the Brazilian Series of Poker attracting thousands of poker players to the felt.

It's safe to say a Brazilian world champion will only fuel that explosive growth.

This is Politano's second time in Las Vegas and even though he said he's always run well in Sin City, this experience is something totally different.

“I'm excited but I don't like to think only of the money,” Politano said.

“I know it's $10 million for first but I just want to play my best poker. The money is important of course but whatever happens happens.

“Thinking, calculating, I like this feeling at the table. I believe a lot in energy and good vibrations. Of course I believe in mathematics but feelings for me are the most important.

“If I win the bracelet it will be a dream come true.”
