The 2008 Canadian Open Poker Championship, created by HeadsUp Entertainment, opened registration for all five events of the series through Ticketmaster Friday.

"We are pleased to give our players the ability to secure their spots in all events through Ticketmaster's secure online Web site," said Kelly Kellner, HeadsUp Entertainment president and CEO. "For international players that do not wish to bring large amounts of cash across the border, they can be assured of securing their entry."

According to a press release from the company, pre-registration has been very strong for the events already, and the company is confident that the main event will be sold out quickly.

The series is taking place March 5-9 with the $5,000 main event taking place March 6 with a 128-player cap.

The schedule is:

  • March 5: $500 Freezout Charity Event (250-player limit)
  • March 6: $5,000 Heads-Up Main Event (128-player limit)
  • March 7: $1,500 Short-Handed Event (200-player limit)
  • March 8: $1,000 Freezeout Event (300-player limit)
  • March 9: $500 Freezeout Event (300-player limit)

Tournament organizers already expect a lot of pros to attend the event and they believe there will be strong demand from amateurs across the country who will want to play against their poker idols. Satellites for the events began this weekend as well.
