PokerTek Inc. announced this week that its PokerPro system will now be available in casinos in Quebec. The company made a deal with the Société des casinos du Québec (SCQ) to install the tables in three casinos in the Canadian province.

The Casino de Montreal in Montreal, Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau and Casino de Charlevoix in LaMalbaie launched with a total 43 PokerPro tables Friday.

"We are very excited about this project and this technology," said Alain Brosseau, SCQ gaming development project manager. "We want to offer the best poker in the most unique poker rooms in North America where customers will be treated like royalty."

The PokerPro tables are a dealerless, electronic poker table. They are designed to provide Texas Hold'em without casinos having to outfit a card room and train dealers.

With PokerPro, games are nearly twice as fast as those dealt by a real dealer, which makes them more profitable for the players and the casino. The automated system also eliminates dealer error.

This deal marks PokerTek's first installation in Canada. Casino de Montreal will also become PokerTek's largest installation of PokerPro tables with 25 tables being installed there.

"This is an amazing opportunity for PokerTek," said Chris Halligan, PokerTek CEO. "The rooms at these casinos are first class and designed for poker players. SCQ has a great team and there is significant pent up demand for poker in this region. We continue to execute on our strategy of working with the operators that are highly committed to automated poker."

The casinos will be using the PokerPro tables to offer Texas Hold'em Limit and No-Limit cash games. Player will also be able to enjoy single-table and multi-table tournaments.
