Joao Simao «Wins All the Money» at Triton Jeju II

The main character of the series was Brazilian poker pro Joao Simao.

First, he won the record-breaking $200K Triton Invitational with 173 entries. He beat Ding Biao heads-up. They played against each other for three hours. At one point, Simao started tilting a little because of hunger and fatigue. The dinner break saved the situation: Simao returned fresh and full and went on to win the tournament.

Simao was invited to the tournament by Winfred Yu. Both made the final table, with Yu finishing sixth.

Interesting facts. At one point, Simao’s stack dropped to 2 BB. Ding Biao also got it in as a 30% favorite twice on the bubble.

Who Else Wins Big at Triton Jeju II

Ding Biao finished the series without trophies but with more than $5.3M in earnings — most of his winnings came from his second-place finish in the Invitational.

Nick Schulman won the $100K Main Event and finished second after a deal in the $50K NLH 8-Handed. His total earnings exceeded $4.6M.

The eight-time WSOP bracelet winner and Poker Hall of Famer Nick Schulman had not planned to travel to Jeju. In an interview after his victory, he said it all happened thanks to Eric Wasserson. Wasserson invited Schulman as a pro to the Triton Invitational. Schulman agreed, but on one condition: Wasserson had to win something on High Stakes Poker. Wasserson won $5M.

The tournament drew 196 entries. Schulman faced Bernhard Binder heads-up. The opponents made a deal, leaving $300K + the trophy + the watch to play for. Watch the final hand on Twitter.

Triton One & Triton Super High Roller Series Come to Cyprus in November

The Triton One series will take place from November 5 to 14, with more affordable buy-ins than the Triton Super High Roller Series.

The Triton Super High Roller Series will take place in the second half of November, featuring the Triton Invitational and Omaha tournaments (there was no PLO in Jeju).
