Vladimir Minko Wins His Second GGMillion$ Title, Beating Juan Pardo Heads-Up for $440K

Vladimir Minko started the final table with the third-largest stack of 62 BB, but at one point was left with fewer than 10 BB. Here’s how the action unfolded at the final table.

Minko Takes the Lead

In the 8-handed stage, Minko won a 38 BB pot against Juan Pardo. Pardo opened from UTG with A3s, and Minko defended his big blind with ATo. Pardo fired three barrels on a KQ4J9 board. After the hand, Minko moved into second place, while Pardo remained in the lead.

At 6-handed, Minko won another big pot, this time against Artem Osmirko. Osmirko opened from MP with K J , and Minko called from the cutoff with A 3 . The board ran out J 10 5 6 Q . Osmirko fired three barrels, building a 44.5 BB pot, which Minko took down to become the chip leader.

Minko Survives a Short Stack

At four-handed, Minko eliminated Osmirko with AJo against AQo in a 24 BB pot. A jack appeared on both the flop and the turn.

The three remaining players — Minko, Pardo, and David Kaufmann — battled for another hour and 20 minutes.

Minko’s stack dropped to just 9 BB, but he managed to double up with Q4s against Pardo’s 99, making a flush on the flop. His comeback was underway.

A couple of hands later, Minko opened with Q9s, and Kaufmann defended his big blind with T2o. The board ran out AJ9J9. Kaufmann bet 1 BB on the flop, both players checked the turn, and Kaufmann check-called a 3.5 BB bet on the river.

Kaufmann eventually finished in third place. First, he lost a 30 BB all-in against Pardo, with his KJs up against KQo, leaving him with just 4 BB. In the very next hand, he got his remaining chips in with TT against Pardo’s J9o, but a jack on the flop sealed his elimination.

Minko Wins the Heads-Up Battle

Minko began heads-up play with 26 BB against Pardo’s 35 BB. The two played 16 hands, 11 of which went Minko’s way.
