If you've followed the expansion of poker tours around the globe over the past few years you've likely noticed a swelling poker tide in the near east of Europe and Asia.

The WSOP and Adjarabet successfully took over the National Sports Center in Georgia last month and PokerStars and its companion Eureka Poker Tour are about to do likewise on the opposite shore of the Black Sea.

Romania is joining in on the poker party with the second event of Eureka Season 6 coming to the InterContinental Hotel in Bucharest May 16 - May 22.

7-Day Poker Fest w/ Negreanu Included

Organized in concert with PokerFest Romania the festival will run 18 events over the week.

Stunning Bucharest.

Events include a 100 No-Limit Hold’em freezeouts, the €1,100 Eureka Main Event (May 18-22), a €2,200 High Roller, The Pokerfest 500 (€550) and the €330 Bucharest Cup.

“This is a unique moment for poker in Romania" says Sorin Constantinescu, Chief Executive Officer of PokerFest Romania.

"The Eureka Poker Tour’s organization in Bucharest is a recognition for Romanian poker and, in this context, puts Bucharest on the map as a remarkable tourist destination.”

Romania legalized online gambling last year and has seen several operators pop up in the market. A nine-day poker festival was held in December last year with growing interest sparking the move by Eureka.

Also taking note and coming on board? Poker's all-time leading money winner Daniel Negreanu, who was born in Canada but whose family heritage is Romanian.
