WSOPC Indiana main event begins
PokerListings.com is everywhere you want to be in the poker world. We've got reporters at Niagara Falls for a World Poker Tour Event, in Dublin for a European Poker Tour event and now in Indiana for the World Series of Poker Caesars Indiana main event that began today.
Last year this event was won by Chad Batista, an online pro from Florida who was making his first foray into live tournament play during the event last year. He made the final table of an earlier event and then overcame a large chip deficit during heads-up in the main event to win the event.
Since then he also made the final table of one of the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em events of the 2007 World Series of Poker, cashing in fifth place for $129,064.
He returned to Indiana for the WSOPC again this year, already making the final table of Event 11 before the main event began. He sat down today to defend his title.
Some other familiar faces joining Batista in the 142-person playing field are Tom Schneider, who was the 2007 WSOP Player of the Year, and a few more Internet pros such as Kevin Stammen (Stamdogg), Kerrec Terrell (K-Rock2525) and Jeremy Burleson (Soggydogg).
The winners from the 12 preliminary events also won seats to the main event. They are:
- Event 1: Jason Potter
- Event 2: Christopher Williams
- Event 3: William Mayes
- Event 4: Nesli Ohare
- Event 5: Adam Lippert
- Event 6: Zac Fronterhouse
- Event 7: Steve Saris
- Event 8: James Bradley
- Event 9: Keith Correll
- Event 10: Amanda Baker
- Event 11: Mark Smith
- Event 12: Duane Solomon
As they battle for a piece of the $688,000 prize pool, Arthur Crowson will be on the scene to tell you how these and other players fare through the three-day main event.
