WSOP signs merchandising deal
The WSOP is entering into a partnership with XP Events to spread WSOP-related merchandise to retail kiosks, wsopshop.com and a stand-alone official brick-and-mortar store in Las Vegas.
Harrah's released a statement earlier this week that listed the details of its deal with XP Events, which is now the official branded-merchandise provider for the WSOP.
"XP Events is a leader in sports merchandising and marketing and we've been impressed by their work with the NBA and NHL," said WSOP Commisioner Jeffrey Pollack. "XP's expertise will broaden our footprint and provide our fans and players, and poker enthusiasts everywhere, with a world-class shopping experience."
XP Events will manage the officially licensed WSOP online store and officially licensed retail outlets throughout Las Vegas during the 2008 WSOP, which takes place May 30-July 14. The company will also manage the new Official WSOP retail store, when it opens.
"Poker is a sports and cultural phenomenon and we are thrilled to align with the best brand in the business, the World Series of Poker," said XP Events president Alan Fey. "From e-commerce to retail, we think this alliance will benefit consumers allowing them multiple touch points to support their poker passion."
