Wilson Calixto outlasted a gigantic field of 2,749 players in Sao Paulo to win the Brazilian Series of Poker Millions main event for $405,327 earlier today.

The BSOP main event was the second biggest tournament ever held outside of North America.

It attracted a number of world renowned poker pros including Chris Moneymaker, Jake Cody and Andre Akkari.

Football legend Ronaldo even stopped by to play some cards.

Calixto entered the final table as one of the middle stacks but that wasn’t enough to keep him from quickly taking control of the table.

By the time three-handed play arrived Calixto had taken the chip lead but eventually agreed to a deal that guaranteed him R$800,000 with R$250,000 still set aside for the winner.

Lucas Iglesias finished in third place, which set up a heads-up match between Calixto and Luiz Duarte with Calixto holding a slight chip advantage.

Calixto slowly grinded Duarte down and in the final hand managed to turn two-pair against Duarte’s top-pair, which ended up being enough to win the tournament.

Organizers are calling it the second biggest tournament held outside of North America and Calixto became a millionaire in local currency, winning R$1,050,000.

The BSOP Millions closed out the ninth season of the BSOP and after a very successful season it wouldn’t be surprise to see the tour grow even larger next year.
