PokerTek made its debut in New Jersey last week with the installment of the first automated poker room in the state at the Trump Plaza Casino.

The State of New Jersey Casino Control Commission approved the Trump Plaza Casino in Atlantic City for the installation of 12 PokerPro tables from PokerTek, allowing the automated poker room to open on Friday.

"Opening our new poker room is an exciting milestone for Trump Plaza, especially after all of the interest expressed by local players over the past several weeks while we've been demonstrating the tables," said Jim Rigot, General Manager of Trump Plaza.

"The proximity of this room to the boardwalk, reduced $3 rake and the unparalleled service and amenities are sure to make this one of the premier poker rooms in Atlantic City."

Trump Plaza is one of three Trump resorts in Atlantic City. The automated poker room joins a resort that already has more than 900 hotel rooms and plays host to some of the world's top entertainers and sporting events.

"We're excited about being open at Trump Plaza," said Chris Halligan, CEO of PokerTek. "Players will find that automated poker at Trump Plaza offers several advantages, including competitive player comps, a lower rake and a room with great atmosphere and high-end amenities."

PokerTek has now installed its automated poker tables in locations all over the world, including some cruise ships.

The dealerless, electronic poker tables provide screens for players to see their cards on and allows them to make their bets electronically. They are designed to provide Texas Hold'em for casino customers without the casinos having to outfit a cardroom and train dealers.
