Phil Laak
Phil Laak is now in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The end of the L.A. Poker Classic and the start of the NBC National Heads Up Championship made it another busy week in the world of poker.

As a result, a few stories didn't quite get the front page time they may have deserved on PokerListings.

But, as usual, we've complied those stories below in our regular Poker News in Brief feature.

This week, Phil Laak's record is recognized, Full Tilt signs an NFL star, 10 High Heels Ambassadors are named and a whole lot more.

"This has been one of the most wonderful journeys I've ever taken, touchingly human and beautiful on so many levels," Laak said. "Thanks to everyone who shared in this amazing ride."

And by taking a seat in the Main Event and sporting the UB brand, qualifiers will automatically bank a $1,000 cash bonus even if they bust early.

The prizes escalate depending on how deep a player runs and there is a $1 million final table sponsorship deal for players who make the November Nine.

Full Tilt Signs Emmitt Smith signed Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher, as the latest "Friend of" this week.

The three-time Super Bowl champion will represent Full Tilt at a selection of live events, starting with this weekend's National Heads-Up Poker Championship, where he made it to the second round.
