PKR hosting GUKPT satellite
By Sarah Polson
A new season of the Grosvenor U.K. Poker Tour gets under way today, and PKR would like to help send players to future events on the schedule.
The poker site is hosting satellites to the London tournament that will take place March 6-9 at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London. At least six players will receive a $3,000 prize package for the event.
The prize packages include the buy-in for the event as well as spending money for travel and accommodation.
"The GUKPT is the U.K.'s first major professional tour, and PKR is proud to be able to offer so many players the opportunity to experience it themselves," said Neil Wright, PKR poker room manager. "That's why we have low buy-ins and are giving players many ways to enter."
Stage One buy-ins for the online qualifiers start for as little as $5.40. Stage One sit-and-gos run 24/7, and Stage One multi-table tournaments take place at 7:45 (GMT) each day.
Stage One winners will move on to the weekly Stage Two tournament that takes place every Monday at 9:15 (GMT). From there, the lucky winners move on to the Grand Final, which takes place Feb. 25.
The Grand Final has a direct buy-in of $150+$12 for players who don't win their way up through the qualifiers. Of the players who enter via this method, the top six will win prize packages.
PKR is also offering players the opportunity to use PKR points to buy into Stage One and Two events.
The GUKPT was launched just last year and is a series of $1,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em events at various cities throughout the United Kingdom. The tournament has attracted players such as Michael Greco, Dave Colclough and Julian Thew.
