First Everest Poker Dream qualifiers
By Sarah Polson
Monday saw the first round of Everest Poker's weekly "Live the Dream" promotion tournaments. More than 600 players signed up to try for a shot at the Dream, but only 10 will move on to the casting call in March.
The top 10 players from this week's tournament were:
| Place | Name | Country |
| 1st | nettou | France |
| 2nd | GunSlinger | Denmark |
| 3rd | fabymac | Italy |
| 4th | morpheo | Spain |
| 5th | tofmoute76 | France |
| 6th | etirow | France |
| 7th | Beseker | Germany |
| 8th | pokerlee00 | The Netherlands |
| 9th | bebar | France |
| 10th | achil07 | France |
Along with their spots in the casting call, they won a piece of the $63,200 prize pool. That meant a first-place payout of $13,904 for nettou.
"We're already off to a fantastic start with 'Live the Dream,'" said Jonathan May, Everest Poker property manager. "I look forward to seeing what happens next."
The direct entry tournaments will run weekly on Mondays through March 10, except for Dec. 24 and 31. Players at Everest Poker can also win their way to the casting call through the Summit Points Leaderboard where the top five players who earn the most Summit Points in each of November, December, January and February will qualify.
In all, 200 finalists will make it to the casting call where they will be judged on their online poker skill, live poker skill, personality, Everest Poker brand knowledge, blogging skills and speaking skills. They will also have a vote online to help choose the best players to represent Everest Poker.
The top 10 chosen from those finalists will each win a "Live the Dream" prize package worth $100,000, giving them the life of a pro player for a year. It includes:
- European Poker Tour Season 4 Grand Final seat ($13,000 buy-in)
- World Series of Poker Main Event ($10,000 buy-in)
- Two World Series of Poker side events (two $2,500 buy-ins)
- Two World Poker Tour Season 7 events (two $15,000 buy-ins)
- Two European Poker Tour Season 5 events (two $10,500 buy-ins)
- $21,000 in cash for expenses
"This is the most unique event we've run so far," May said. "It'll take a player with the perfect combination of poker skills, brand knowledge and charisma to get in the final group."
