Chan, Brunson Headline New Alt-Currency Poker Site Breakout Gaming
Online poker site Breakout Gaming will feature a brand-new way to deposit backed by one of the most old-school pro teams in the history of poker.
The team behind Breakout Gaming should be familiar to poker players as many of them were sponsored by the original Full Tilt Poker before the PokerStars buyout.
Johnny Chan, Huck Seed, Jennifer Harman, Ted Forrest, Todd Brunson, David Benyamine, Layne Flack, Toto Leonidas, Jeffrey Lisandro and Vladimir Shchemelev are all official backers of Breakout Gaming.
The site will launch with its very own currency. The Breakout Coin (or BRO), similar to bitcoin, will be the only accepted token on the site, which is expected to open next month. Players will be able to trade bitcoins for BRO at their leisure.
“We are going to shake up the gaming community with the world’s first cryptocurrency that has a dedicated ecosystem for its coins,” said core-partner and 10-time WSOP champion Johnny Chan in a Breakout Gaming press release.
“We felt there was an untouched niche for digital currency enthusiasts to play digital games such as Poker, Blackjack, and Fantasy Sports, all while investing in the long-term opportunity of Breakout being the next go-to gaming destination.”
Breakout Gaming to Offer Anonymous Transactions
Like most Bitcoin poker sites Breakout Gaming promises completely anonymous transactions with stealth addresses. There will also be new anti-bot technology built into the client.
Breakout Gaming will actually feature a full-fledged casino with 88 different games including No-Limit Hold’em and Open Face Chinese Poker.
The site will be headquartered in San Jose, Costa Rica, with operations in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
The staff claims Breakout Gaming will be properly licensed and only deployed in legal-to-play markets so it’s unclear how it will run in California with online gaming legislation recently hitting a brick wall.
Breakout Gaming will provide an initial offering of Breakout Coin between Oct. 4-18.
Once the site is fully operational there will be a Breakout Exchange where players can instantly swap out their BRO.
