SiGMA South America Poker Tour Main Event Field Finalised – 52 To Return For Day 2

The opening flights of the SiGMA South South America Poker Tour Main Event have concluded, and 52 will be returning to the felt in pursuit of Main Event glory today at the luxurious Monte Carlo Club. Here is a look at the field of the marquee tournament, where the $R2,500,000 guarantee was hit.

Sketch Tops The Counts

Unsurprisingly, the home nation dominates the overall chip counts, with Marcos Sketch bagging a resounding 1,553,000 chips from flight 1A. En route to his pole position, he was involved in a monster three-way all-in, where his ace-king offsuit made top-top against ace-six suited and cracked kings. He also dispatched SiGMA Poker Tour Ambassador Dani Leão on the stone bubble in a preflop all-in confrontation, where he flopped a set and rivered quads with pocket fours to best the pocket queens of Leão. The Rio de Janeiro native, full name Marcos Neves da Silva, has amassed $540,257 in live tournament earnings throughout his career, according to our friends at thehendonmob.com. He will be a force to be reckoned with when Day 2 play commences at 2 p.m. local time.

Hot on his heels with a huge stack, the only one returning with over 1,000,000 is Helton Richard, who qualified via the Promo Day in the reduced R$2,000 buy-in. He will return with 1,460,000 when play resumes. He, like Sketch, also burst the bubble, as he sent Marcelo Giordano to the rail. Rounding out the podium for a home-nation 1-2-3 is Roger Ruivo, who qualified through Day 1C. Ruivo is no stranger to success in Sao Paulo, as he won the KSOP São Paulo Main Event for R$ 400,000 last June, defeating 649 players in the process. He then followed that victory with a second-place finish in the KSOP SA Ultra High Roller, but for a bigger score of R$ 840,000. As well as being a keen poker player, Ruivo is also a marathon runner, so he wont be short of stamina over the course of the next few days.

Of the SiGMA Poker Tour ambassadors who took to the felt over the course of the starting flights, it was Norwegian Drea Karlsen who fared the best. The popular streamer is ninth in the overall chip counts, having bagged 560,000, good for 93 big blinds, a very playable stack. She burst the bubble in flight 1C, as her pocket jacks held against the Big Slick of Argentinian player Matias. Expect a lot of deepstack action and big moments when play resumes, where the blinds will be 3,000/6,000. Here are the top 10 biggest stacks in the field that will be gunning for the Main Event title.
