There’s more to real money online poker than just logging on, heading straight for the tables, sitting out and logging off. Different operators have different ways of doing things, and in terms of bonuses, offers and whatever freebies are on offer, it tends to be the same set-up regardless of whether you favour Sit & Go and online poker tournaments or Texas Hold’em or Omaha cash games.
It’s worth taking time to familiarise ourselves with a poker room’s key features that will be a regular part of our experience when playing there. A good example of this is a key feature of the ever-popular partypoker’s set-up, namely partydollars which, as we’ll see, is a very user-friendly concept.
What Are partydollars?
Also referred to as P$, these represent a special currency that has replaced the old Tournament Dollars (T$) and which affords players a lot more flexibility. Giving out tokens and tickets and so on is a common practice in online poker, but can be confusing, restrictive and consequently even off-putting for players, who might as a result not derive from them their full potential.
For example, in the old days, if you won $100 in Tournament Dollars you’d be able to put the T$ to use only by playing in tournaments. With P$ you enjoy much more choice as to how to spend what you have, as this alternative ‘currency’ is exactly that – now you’d be free to use that P$100 for any game you fancy. or a session at the cash table. In fact, P$ can be used in any of the following ways:
- Any online multi-table poker tournament
- Satellite tournaments
- Standard cash games
- Fastforward games
- Sit & Go games
- SPINS tournaments
As we can see, partydollars really do give us access to everything partypoker has to offer poker fans! Note that P$ cannot be sold, exchanged for cash or transferred.

Tournament Tickets
As well as partydollars, regular players at partypoker will also find themselves acquiring tournament tickets. These serve as vouchers that can be used to enter specific tournaments.
Typically, you might receive tournament tickets via promotions, or win them in a Sit & Go or a tournament. Each ticket has a specified value that can be used as a buy-in for certain tournaments, and is valid for six months. Note that – like P$ – tickets are non-transferrable and cannot be converted to cash.
So, there you go – make sure that you eke out everything you can from your partypoker experience, and put those P$ and tournament tickets to good use!
