Another One: WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus Is Cancelled
At the beginning of the month, the World Poker Tour decided to postpone WPT Prime Cyprus due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Just a few hours ago, the World Series of Poker went a step further and made the difficult decision to cancel WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus altogether.
Here is what we know so far.
What There Is to Know About the Cancellation
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) today, the WSOP announced its Super Circuit Cyprus would not be moving forward as planned. The European stop, which was originally scheduled between April 25 to May 11, was cancelled due to continuous tensions and uncertainties in the Middle East. This makes WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus the second event to be affected this month but the first to be cancelled outright.
In their official press release, the WSOP highlighted it could not go through with the tournament in good consciousness:
The safety of our players, staff, and partners is always our top priority. Given the current situation, we believe this is the most responsible decision at this time.
While player reactions are still pouring in, players have praising the tour for putting the safety of the poker community above all else and waiting for a more suitable time to host the Super Circuit in Cyprus.
