Daniel Negreanu Wins Wynn Millions High Roller Event #2: $15K NLHE ($216,000)

Daniel Negreanu Wins Wynn Millions High Roller Event #2: $15K NLHE ($216,000)

For the second time this year, GGPoker Ambassador and six-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu found himself as the last player standing against a difficult field of top-name poker professionals after defeating Sergi Reixach heads-up to win the Wynn Millions High Roller Event #2: $15,300 No Limit Hold’em for $216,000.

Less than a month ago, Negreanu also won the PokerGO Cup Event #6: $25,000 No Limit Hold’em for $350,000.

The pair of wins catapults Negreanu to nearly $46 million in cashes, placing him in third place on The Hendon Mob All-Time Money List just behind Bryn Kenney and Justin Bonomo.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Negreanu en route to victory as he got lucky to survive with three players left and had to stave off a talented heads-up opponent in Reixach.

Event #2 attracted 40 entries to generate a $600,000 prize pool.

Final Table Action

According to the PokerGO Tour Live Reporting blog, the final table kicked off after Brock Wilson dispatched Cary Katz in 10th place on the final table bubble with Ren Lin as table captain and Negreanu near the bottom of the pack.

The action was soon on the money bubble with six players getting paid after Lin with rockets sent both Sean Perry and Boris Akopov packing short of the money. Sergio Aido hit the rail not too much later leaving the remaining six players in the money.

Meanwhile, 2021 PokerGO Tour champion Ali Imsirovic was also very short on chips on the money bubble during which time he doubled up once before doubling up twice more after players were in the money. Time eventually ran out for Imsirovic with him matching his sixth place finish a day before in Event #1: $10,000 No Limit Hold’em with his cowboys unable to hold against Negreanu’s big slick. Sean Winter matched a similar fate to that of Imsirovic as he finished fifth in Event #1 only to wind up in the same spot in Event #2.

Lin then ousted a short-stacked Brock Wilson when his sevens were good against ten-five suited and held nearly double the chips of Negreanu and Reixach combined to start three-handed play.

Negreanu Catches a Break

Negreanu began chipping up during three-handed action while Reixach went in the opposite direction. Reixach managed to triple-up to get back into things with Negreanu chipping up into the lead shortly after.

The story was far from over from here as Lin managed to gain the lead back to bring the stacks nearly the same at the start of three-handed play.

As it turned out, Lady Luck was on Negreanu’s side as he almost hit the rail in third place. Negreanu three-bet jammed with ace-eight and was called by Lin with tens. An ace spiked the river to not only save Negreanu but also give him a substantial chip lead.

After Reixach took a chunk of Negreanu’s stack, “Kid Poker” eliminated Lin when his nines were good against ace-six suited to begin heads-up play with nearly double the stack of Reixach.

Negreanu forged ahead and had triple the stack of Reixach before the stacks were nearly evened up when Reixach doubled through Negreanu. Negreanu struck back and catapulted back to a 3:1 chip advantage.

The event ended on a coin flip. Negreanu jammed the button with nine-eight and Reixach called off for about eight big blinds with fours. A nine spiked the flop which was good enough for Negreanu to win his second big title of the year.
