Shannon Shorr Wins U.S. Poker Open #1: $10K NLHE ($213,900)
The U.S. Poker Open kicked off in style at the PokerGO Studio at the ARIA with Shannon Shorr defeating Ren Lin in heads-up play to win in Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $213,900.
This is the second time that Shorr, who has nearly $10 million in live poker tournament earnings according to The Hendon Mob, has won a PokerGo Tour event as he previously shipped the Poker Masters Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $205,000 in September 2021.
“It was a blast,” Shorr said to PokerGO. “All of these events inside the PokerGO Studio are so much fun, and the names at the final table – Joseph Cheong, Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu – they speak for themselves. It was a blast to be here and I’m glad I could come out on top.”

Event #1 attracted 93 entries to generate a $930,000 prize pool with the top 14 players each guaranteed at least a min-cash of $18,600.
U.S. Poker Open Final Table Recap
The second and final day began after Kristina Holst, Nick Schulman, and Rok Gostisa hit the rail on the unofficial final table to end Day 1 with Sean Perry, Ivan Zufic, Dan Shak, Phil Hellmuth, and Tamon Nakamura also making the money.
As will be the case throughout the series the official final table was broadcasted on delay with hole-cards exposed at PokerGO. Masashi Oya kicked off the action with a substantial chip lead with nearly double the stack of his nearest competitor in Shorr.
All eyes were on Negreanu, Seidel, and Cheong with 16 WSOP bracelets between them but none of the three advanced to the podium. Oya continued his momentum from the opening day by sending Seidel and Cheong packing before Lin eliminated Negreanu.
Despite the hot start, Oya was unable to advance further. He jammed the river with queen-three for second pair on the ace-queen-six-ten-four board and Shorr went into the tank. Shorr eventually called with ten-six for two pair to eliminate Oya and began heads-up play with a 4:1 chip advantage over Lin.
Despite the huge initial lead, it wasn’t smooth sailing heads-up for Shorr. Lin was not only able to come back to take the lead but eventually turned the tables to hold a 4:1 chip advantage over Shorr.
Shorr managed to double-up and take the chip lead before winning the title when his big slick held against king-jack.
