Poker Punching Power: KO Sundays at PokerStars
People put Sundays aside for all sorts of things, but those of us who are fortunate enough to be real money poker fans can have hours of fun at PokerStars courtesy of their KO Sundays – a feast of tournaments where picking up Bounty rewards can significantly boost your bankroll. You don’t even have to finish in the prizes to score a profit!
There’s a plethora of knockout tournaments to enjoy, with the Major Sunday events played with the Progressive KO (PKO) format. The difference between a PKO and a traditional Bounty set-up (where a fixed sum is awarded for each bounty) is that progressive bounty values are fluid, increasing as a player continues to eliminate opponents. In a PKO, part the bounty is awarded immediately, but some (usually 50% - see below) is added to your bounty, too. In this way, the more players you knock out, the bigger your own bounty becomes.
PKO: How It Works
In most PKO tournaments, half the buy-in goes to the prize pool and the other half becomes a player’s starting Bounty. Then, in the case of an elimination, the Bounty is broken up as described above. Thus:
- 50% of the buy-in goes to the prize pool
- 50% of the buy-in forms each player’s initial Bounty
- 50% of the Bounty is ‘progressive’ - when eliminating a player you receive half of their Bounty in cash, with the remaining half being added to your own Bounty value.
