Ontario Poker Fans Get Their Own Series – Announcing the PokerStars Ontario Championship of Online Poker

If recent developments in the world of real money poker online are anything to go by, it seems that everyone and his/her dog in Ontario seems to be a poker player. The PokerStars launch in the Canadian province in June afforded poker fans living in the region the top quality Stars offering enjoyed by so many around the world, but with a ‘home’ feel.

One such combination, the Ontario Platinum Series, paid out $1M in prizes, and next up, the inaugural PokerStars Ontario Championship of Online Poker (ONCOOP), will boast twice that amount - a cool $2M in guaranteed prize money.

Taking place from 1-17 October, this series features a total of 132 tournaments during the action-packed 17-day long poker frenzy, and will no doubt be seen by Ontario’s poker players as a fantastic opportunity.

Poker for All Bankrolls

In line with the PokerStars ethos - particularly more noticeable in recent years - of giving all players maximum chances to have a taste of tournaments with juicy prize pools (not forgetting bragging rights), a wide range of buy-ins guarantees that there’s something for everyone. And, of course, thanks to a comprehensive roster of satellites, it’s possible to qualify for tournaments that recreational players might not usually find themselves taking part in, the most notable during ONCOOP being the $500 buy-in $200,000 GTD Main Event, which takes place on Sunday 16 October. Note that at the same time there’s a $50 buy-in ‘Low’ Main event edition with a $40,000 guarantee.

The future’s certainly looking bright for Ontario residents...
