WPT Global seems determined to kick of the new year with a bang. As if the Lunar New Year Bonus Freerolls weren’t enough, the poker giant is now introducing its Spring Series Lunar Edition, an online poker festival boasting $8 million in guaranteed prize pools. Running from this Sunday, January 19 to February 10, the series features 30 numbered events alongside numerous side events.

A Closer Look at the Spring Series Lunar Edition

The Spring Series Lunar Edition has nothing less than a packed schedule. The festival begins, this Sunday, January 19 with Event #1, the $33 Poker Classic Opener, guaranteeing $20,000. Players will find buy-ins ranging from as low as $15 up to $2,100, with guarantees scaling accordingly.

Apart from the Opener, other highlighted tournaments include the $25 Mini Bounty Championship (Event #9) with a $100,000 guarantee, and the $215 Lunar Mystery Bounty (Event #18), guaranteeing $400,000. Another standout will be the WPT500 (Event #28), a multi-table tournament with a $530 buy-in and a $400,000 guarantee. Flights for this event start on February 1, with the final day scheduled for February 9.

Opting to stay true to the Lunar New Year, the Spring series will also incorporate regionally themed events, including the ¥888 Lunar NYE Hongbao Mystery Bounty (Event #11) and the $202.50 Beijing Dragon Mystery (Event #25).

The Asia Championship Main Event (Event #27) on February 9 will be the round-up event, with a $150,000 guarantee for a $110 buy-in.

Lunar Freerolls Continue Through January

While the Spring Series steps into the WPT Global spotlight, the Lunar New Year Bonus Freerolls remain active, with prize pools totaling over $1 million. These freerolls, which began last Friday, January 10, will run until January 29.

Key events still to be played include the $136K Lunar New Year Bonus Freerolls today, January 17 and next Friday, 25, and the grand $409K freeroll on January 28.
