Recap Coolbet Open – Day 5 With Main Event 1E and 1F, 8-Game Galore in the Mix!

We write Friday, 8th of September, live from Banco Casino in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Coolbet Open is going towards the final weekend of the Main Event. The last starting flights are being played out, and as per usual, the expectations for the last couple of flights are set high. The guarantee needs to be reached, and it would be a close call to have it reached. Besides the Main Event, the mixed games players would be ready for the 8-Game tournament to start, together with other events such as the No Limit Texas Hold'em Turbo, Jevakim’s Hyper Turbo, and the NLHE Re-Entry tournament.

The Main Event, would have some interesting sign ups on Day 1e, as Martin Kabrhel from Czech Republic registered himself just prior the end of the registration period. The controversial poker player is a big fan of the game, in his own words, and plays events from as low as €125 all the way up to €250,000 buy-in events. During the World Series, he was accused of cheating by potentially marking the cards, which directly got an interesting aspect here at the Coolbet Open. Once he knew he was going to be seated at the Feature Table, the first thing he did was taking a card from the table when no player was seated yet. Unfortunately for him, he didn’t manage to find a bag, neither in 1e or in 1f.

Last Starting Flights of Day 1 Coolbet Open Main Event

Day 1e would be the ultimate flight to gather the most chips, as the expectations were set high for the attendance of the players. Eventually there would be 196 players on the sheet. With Martin Kabrhel as highlight of the day. The High Roller decided to once again make an appearance here at the Banco Casino in Bratislava, as he joined in on the action during the Polish Poker Days prior to the Coolbet Open event. 29 Players would remain for Day 2, and the chip leader comes from Hungary, Nagy Barnabas with 775,000 chips. Strangely enough, it was not enough for the overall chiplead as Yehuda Yosef gathered 861,000 on Day 1c.

The feature table was going to be fully focused on the Main Event again today, as they played the Coolbet Nations Cup Final yesterday on stream. With plenty of action in the first couple of hours at the feature table, suddenly Martin Kabrhel walked in, and just a level after he found himself at the feature table. Not for long, as he busted out of the tournament approximately one hour after that.

Many players took much risk before the end of the registration period, so that if they would bust out, they could re-enter in the turbo flight which started at 21:00 CET. That turbo flight, gathered another 79 entries, of which 22 would remain. With that number, the guarantee was reached and the champagne could be opened here in Bratislava.

Side Events

The mixed games players would be served according to their wishes with an 8-Game tournament and a buy-in of € 165, and a guarantee prize pool of € 4,750. Eventually there would be 85 players, which doubled the initial prize pool. It was eventually Ville Hakala who would become the winner of the event at 6 AM in the morning, as he bested Michael Hagstrom from Sweden in an heads-up battle which lasted only 10 minutes.

Recap Day 5: Gudjon Ivar Jonsson

Hakala would take home € 3,055 for his victory. Other side events were the € 60 rebuy tournament, € 225 nlhe tournament, € 115 Jevakim’s Hyper Turbo, and the One-Hand Satellites would kick off as well, where you could win a seat in the Main Event Day 1f turbo. All results can be found under the results tab.
