Recap Coolbet Open Bratislava – Day 3 With Main Event 1A and 1B

The Coolbet Open in Bratislava is on its way and oh boy what do we like it here. With so many different nationalities, coming from all over the world such as Chile, Israel, Iceland, Norway, and even The Netherlands and Belgium. Poker players were all having their eyes on the opening day of the Main Event, with day 1a on the schedule. Day 1b, a turbo variant, was about to be played in the evening hours. Both opening flights would have 14 blind levels to be played, resulting in many casualties who will have to fire another bullet to be able to reach the second starting day.

Yesterday it was also the kick-off from the Coolbet Streamers Hyper Turbo events, this time it was named after the Wedde Brothers from Norway. Mixed Games fanatics would also be served according to their wishes, as the Pot-Limit Omaha tournament was scheduled for the afternoon as well. PokerListings took care of the Coolbet Open live blog for all events and will continue to do so throughout this entire event.

Main Event Day 1A

The opening flight of the Main Event attracted a whopping 97 entries, which is very decent for the first flight. Eventually, it would be Jacob Malloul from Israel topping the chip counts by expanding his 30,000 starting stack to a casual 407,000. With 14 levels to be played out of 45 minutes each, it was to be expected to be a survival of the fittest. Unfortunately, we would lose some great names just prior to the end of the day such as Jorge Cabrera and Sebastian Olivares from Chile. Also, names such as Leif Iversen, Karev Tralla, Lukasz Fraczek, Sturla Hiller, and Oystein Brenden, wouldn’t be able to bag and tag in the end.

Players who did reach it till the end of the day, and are able to focus themselves on the side events the coming days until Day 2 starts are chip leader Jacob Malloul, Ylva Thorsrud, Jeroen Aarts, Brandon Mifsud, and Oskari Piira. They were all part of the 15 survivors of the day.

With over six levels played, all chip counts were overall pretty on the same level, with just a couple of exceptions such as Rudolf Usa who had 4x starting stack at the beginning of the feature table, being streamed live on the official Twitch and Youtube channels of Coolbet. Also Rudolf Kosa from Austria gathered plenty of chips in the beginning, just like Karev Tralle from Estonia, who found himself on the good side of the coin when his 10 J flopped a Royal Flush draw against Sturla Hiller from Norway, who had Aces. By hitting two jacks on the turn and river, Tralla catapulted himself to a stack over 100,000 but soon followed by a bust out as he couldn’t hold his chips to his own.

When coming closer towards the end of the registration period, it was Norwegian Coolbet Streamer Ylva Thorsrud (242,000) who managed to build herself a good stack. Also, fellow Norwegian Frode Hoel secured himself a spot on Day 2 but has rather work to do as he only bagged 50,000 chips in the end. Tamas Grabics from Hungary would be the surprise of the day, as he would have accumulated more than 200,000 in chips, and approximately 30 minutes later he stood up from his seat and left towards the rail as he had to give all of his chips to the leader of the day Jacob Malloul.

Side Events

Mixed Games and Hyper Turbo fans all had circled September 6th in their agenda, as it was time for the PL Omaha poker tournament and Wedde’s NLHE Hyper Turbo event. The numbers didn’t lie in the end, as respectively 113 and 131 entries were noted. Fantastic turnout, as the PL Omaha just had €5,000 guaranteed, but they quadrupled that!

In both events, the atmosphere was extremely good, mainly due to the high number of Norwegians who were responsible for half of the entries. Such tournaments are really the cherry on the pie, as everyone is bantering around, and having a cheeky drink here and there. Often players tend to forget that poker is not only a great competitive sport, but also a nice place to be part of.

All results from the side events can be found in the results tab in the live blog section.

Day 4 – Main Event 1C and 1D on the Schedule, and the Swedish Nations Cup Final!

The fourth day of the Coolbet Open is perhaps one of the days when most tournaments will start, alongside the Swedish Nations Cup Final. An event which already has eight finalists for the grand final, but one spot still needs to be secured for Sweden. In the grand final, a whopping €20,000 will be handed out to the top 3 players.

We from PokerListings, are focusing on the non-turbo flight of the Main Event, which is Day 1c, starting at 12:00 CET.

Good luck to all the players, and happy reading for the people at home!
