PokerStars Tweaks Cash Game Lobby: What You Need to Know

A small but potentially game-shaping update has arrived at PokerStars — and if you’re a cash game regular (or a fan of the old-school lobby view), you might want to take note. Starting July 15, 2025, players on the global PokerStars .COM platform can see a refreshed Cash Game Lobby that now blends two different approaches to table selection.

The main change? Seatfinder, PokerStars’ auto-seating system, is now live for a wide range of lower-stakes games. Meanwhile, traditional table and seat selection is sticking around for higher stakes. It’s a bit of a balancing act for speeding up game starts, softening the ecosystem for casual players, and still keeping the regulars happy at the deeper end of the pool.

What’s Different in the Cash Game Lobby?

The update makes a few visible changes right away. Instead of rows and rows of separate tables, each stake level is now shown as a single line in the lobby. This makes for a more streamlined layout and — depending on who you ask — a less overwhelming interface.

But under the hood, the real shift is the selective rollout of Seatfinder, which means:

  • No more manually picking specific seats or table-hopping at lower stakes.
  • Auto-seating aims to reduce predatory behaviour like bumhunting.
  • It’s supposed to make the experience faster and more accessible, especially for newer players.

PokerStars says this configuration is based on both internal research and previous rollouts in Southern Europe and Italy, where Seatfinder had reportedly received positive feedback.

Where Seatfinder Applies (and Where It Doesn’t)

Here’s a quick breakdown of which games now use Seatfinder on .COM:

Game TypeStakes Using Seatfinder
No Limit Hold’em & Pot Limit Omaha (4, 5, 6 card)Up to and including $1/$2
Fixed Limit Hold’em, Omaha, Draw, BadugiUp to and including $1/$3
Fixed Limit Stud, RazzUp to and including $3/$6
6+ Hold’emUp to and including $2 ante

Above those limits, players still get full control over where they sit and which tables they join.

A Bit of Both Worlds

This isn’t a full-on replacement of the old-school lobby — it’s more of a hybrid approach. By offering Seatfinder where it’s likely to make the biggest impact and keeping manual selection alive at higher stakes, PokerStars seems to be aiming for the best of both setups.

So, whether you’re chasing micro-stakes volume or grinding bigger games, the update is now live— and the lobby will look (and behave) a little differently from here on out.
