PokerStars Open Heads Back to Malaga with €1M GTD Main Event

PokerStars Open Heads Back to Malaga with €1M GTD Main Event

PokerStars is bringing its Open series back to the Costa del Sol this summer, returning to Málaga from June 16–22 with an upgraded schedule, off-the-felt perks, and a €1 million guaranteed Main Event. Hosted at Gran Madrid | Casino Torrequebrada, PokerStars Open Málaga 2025 is shaping up to be one of the hottest stops on the European live circuit.

The 2024 edition drew widespread praise for its atmosphere and organization, and PokerStars is building on that success with a refreshed venue layout, added player experiences, and the return of a trusted tournament crew.

What’s on the PokerStars Open Schedule?

The centerpiece is the €1,100 Main Event with its seven-figure guarantee, but the full schedule caters to a wide range of players. Events range from accessible side tournaments to a €5K Super High Roller. Here are the major highlights:

  • June 17–18: PokerStars Open High Roller (€2,200)
  • June 18–22: PokerStars Open Main Event (€1,100 buy-in, €1,000,000 GTD)
  • June 20–21: Second Chance NLHE (€500)
  • June 21: Super High Roller (€5,000)
  • June 21–22: Mystery Bounty Cup (€400)

All events will count toward the PokerStars Open Leaderboard, which offers not just future tournament entries, but a chance to audition for PokerStars Team Pro.

Off the Felt: Parties, Pool Days & Paella

The tournament isn’t just about the cards. PokerStars is offering players and guests a weeklong lineup of local experiences, social events, and parties centered around the Tulum Beach Bar and the Higuerón resort. Here’s what players can expect away from the tables:

  • June 18: Activity Day at Higuerón with games, food and drinks (10:00–17:00), followed by live music and a football screening at Tulum Beach Bar.
  • June 19: Classic beachside paella lunch and evening happy hour at Tulum.
  • June 20: Flamenco class and performance, with games and live music into the night.
  • June 21: Pool Day at Higuerón from 10:00–17:00, followed by sangria, tapas, and music.

It’s the kind of tournament that mixes competition with community, and PokerStars is leaning into the local vibe just as much as the poker action.

Power Path Express: A Shortcut to the Sun

For players based in France, Spain, and Portugal, the new Power Path Express Malaga Edition offers a direct buy-in to Step 4 of the Power Path. This is the first time PokerStars is opening that shortcut—and there’s a big incentive.

The June 1 tournament guarantees €100,000 in prizes, including:

  • 2 Gold Passes
  • 25 Silver Passes
  • 760+ Bronze Passes

Players can win their Step 4 ticket via daily freerolls running from May 19–25 at 20:00 CEST.
