PokerStars Galactic Series Touches Down in Southern Europe

The Galactic Series is already an established name at PokerStars. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the poker power house is expanding its space-themed festival for France, Spain and Portugal from November 2 to 24, lining up €7 million guaranteed, a €350,000-GTD Main Event on November 16. There’s also a team competition that hands out Silver and Gold Power Passes thrown in there for good measure.

The Basics: Dates, Guarantees, Headliners

The European edition is happening across 23 days that are going to be filled with daily tournaments and weekly tentpoles. As we mentioned, the Main Event lands on the schedule on Sunday, November 16, backed by €350,000 guaranteed.

Two early highlights bracket the first half of the series: a €100 Sunday Special Galactic edition with €125,000 GTD on November 2 at 20:00 CET, and a double bill on November 9—the €50 Spicy 50 (€150,000 GTD at 20:00 CET) followed by the €250 High Roller PKO (€100,000 GTD at 21:00 CET).

Galactic Team Battles for Power Passes

Alongside the tournament slate you just saw, PokerStars decided to layer in a team contest to the Galactic Series, led by non other than the PokerStars Ambassadors.

It all seems pretty simple so far. Players opt in by picking a team, then complete mini-missions to earn leaderboard points. Those points then matter twice: they add to the team total and scale each player’s starting stack in that team’s weekly freeroll.

Only one weekly freeroll actually runs, the one belonging to the top-scoring team that week. The winner of that freeroll pockets a Silver Pass. After three Silver Pass weeks, a final freeroll on November 26 at 20:00 CET awards a Gold Pass.

Who’s Captaining the Teams

  • France: choose between Benny, Yu, or JBZZ
  • Spain: pick Willo, Alex Romero, or Estiwinho
  • Portugal: Team A (Ricardo Sousa, João Tomás, Vasco Freitas) or Team B (Tiago Ferreira, Rúben Lopes, Hugo Machado)

The Way into the Galactic Series

PokerStars kept the qualification path straightforward. Online satellites started running yesterday, October 20, with Power Path in the mix for additional routes.
