It Turned Out That WSOP Documentary Contains Fake Quotes of Alan Keating

After claiming that “the poker content industry is creatively bankrupt”, No Limit Documentary creator Dustin Iannotti turned out to have a chip on his shoulder: his team literally produced a few quotes for the documentary by using AI to imitate Alan Keating’s voice as if he said these words.
When it came up to light, the poker community was not only shocked but terrified as well, asking: how can we believe poker media if even in the documentary about WSOP the creators used AI to fake information?
Unfortunately, we can’t answer this question yet — only to share with you what happened.
How AI Generated Fake Quotes Became a Public Knowledge
When in April 2025, Dustin shared his plans for poker content on X, he promised to write an entirely new narrative for the game. He stated that he has already been trying to do so on Alan Keating’s channel. It’s quite ironic that Alan became exactly the one who uncovered the fake parts of the WSOP Documentary.
According to PokerNews, who managed to record the information before it was deleted, on November 21st, 2025, Alan shared his dissatisfaction with the Episodes 5 & 6 of the documentary on X — because in the videos his voice was used to create false quotes via AI without his consent, consultation or at least knowledge.
Dustin responded to this post personally, admitting that AI technology was used “on two brief sequences during the post-production” but later deleted this as well. And that’s where the controversy actually began.

What Was Generated by AI in the NO LIMIT Documentary
Thanks to Alan, the community now knows about at least two fake quotes from the WSOP documentary:
- Episode 5, 19:18: I like putting people in tough spots and testing their will. And then ripping their heads off.
- Episode 6, 23:00: Is this over? Can I go find a cash game now?
It is worth noting that these are the only known quotes — no one can be sure that other “background” words in the documentary were really said by heroes and not AI-generated.
Moreover, Alex Keating — not to be confused with Alan — shared the assumption on X that he, as one of the heroes of this documentary, was also a subject of the same type of AI voice-over — and he never agreed to this:
“Disappointed with @GGPoker @WSOP.
They’ve clearly added a fake voice in for me. And re-edited things without context. I never agreed to this
I was a feature player for an episode that I think will be coming out soon. I no longer want to be a part of this. And I do not give consent to voice-over and spliced editing
Please contact me before releasing more episodes.”
He also shared that he thought the microphones were just cut and “they did some things by accident without realizing it” but later realized that this was on purpose and a manipulation.
However, Dustin denied these accusations, stating that in Alex’s case, AI was used only to enhance his voice by making it louder and isolated from background noises because his audio was partially damaged.
Alex wasn’t convinced and officially withdrew his consent to appear in any future episodes of the documentary:
“I’m not comfortable continuing unless I’m able to review the final cut beforehand. I talked about my travel agency business in this episode, and if anything is edited or manipulated in a way that makes it look bad, that could hurt my business I’m willing to give consent for future releases, but only after I’ve seen the final cut. Until then, please do not include me in any upcoming episodes. Thank you”
“Editorial Choices” and Other Takes from Dustin Iannotti
In his response to Alan’s concerns, Dustin used a peculiar way of explaining what happened.
First of all, he didn’t publicly apologise — just commented to Will Shillibier later on X:
“We’d apologized to Alan privately before the post went up and there was certainly no ill-intent.”
He also called the fake AI quotes made without person’s consent “editorial choices” and then added that one of the episodes in question “has received an overwhelmingly positive response, with many viewers specifically citing their enjoyment of Alan’s segment” — as if this outcome somehow justifies the methods.
And when Dustin addressed Alex’s concerns, he stated one thing that may cause even more harm in this situation:
“As for editing things out of context, this is not only standard practice for all shows, but there isn’t a single reality show or doc or docuseries that doesn’t do that.”
How the Poker Community Responded to This Mess
As Mister Darcy says in ‘Pride and Prejudice’ — “My good opinion once lost is lost forever”. And that’s exactly how the poker community responded to this AI controversy.
David Lappin: Turns out the lad who had the temerity to lecture the entire poker industry and call us creatively bankrupt likes to literally put words in people’s mouths.
I’d rather be creatively bankrupt than a charlatan.
Jennifer Tilly: Wow. Just wow. I don’t even like being misquoted. I can’t imagine what it would be like for somebody to use my voice to put words in my mouth in a “documentary”. This is so egregious on so many levels.
Thomas Keeling: I am shocked and disgusted at the news that @Mister_Keating was depicted by AI voice lines without his consent.
The @WSOP and everyone involved need to do better. Human beings are not puppets for us to manipulate for our amusement.
Daniel Strelitz: Taking quotes out of context is bad enough, but completely fabricating quotes is obscene.
Hayley Hanna: This is very interesting. At first, I thought it was just sentences used out of context — which is unfortunately fairly common with reality TV. But using AI to generate fake sentences that were never really said in peoples voices is actually scary.
Big Li Poker: This is genuinely pretty nuts, if production teams are deciding to alter/generate statements with AI, how can people trust the media they are seeing/hearing?
